"Wake up Elizabeth, you have to get ready for school", Mom said as she opened the curtains to let the morning light shine through, partiality blinding you. "Breakfast's on the table dear." You slowly walk down the steps of your old and rustic house. It hasn't been long since you moved here from Manchester and you still don't entirely know why. "Hmm again", Dad mumbled, sitting at the table reading the paper, "another person went missing on the streets eh? It has been happening quite a few times recently." You don't react and just slump over to your seat on the table. You aren't used to waking up so early in the morning, since it's your first day of school in London after the holidays. You hear a loud thump, and you see your brother, groaning on the floor. "Oh dear what happened now?" Mom calmly said, with traces of disappointment in her voice. "Charles pushed me down the stairs!" Chester cried. You look closer and see your brothers mouth bleeding. You can also hear Charles laughing hysterically on the second floor. You just turn around and continue eating your breakfast. "Is there something wrong sweetie? You seem awfully quiet." Mom asked with a concerned frown on her face while getting the breakfast for the twins. "Nothing mum." you reply with a tired voice. "I know it's your first day of school in a new Town but I am sure, that you will have no problem finding friends!" she interrupts you with a more enthusiastic tone. "Yeah mum." You say as you start making your way upstairs again to get ready.
You return downstairs with your new uniform and after a last kiss goodbye from your mother, you make your way to school. On the way there a girl approaches you. She seems kind of shy. You could sense that she wanted to speak, but she just stood there anxiously while you just silently stood in front of her. "Hello", she says with a face as red as a tomato, "I'm new in this town. You see, I got lost while trying to find the school. Would you be kind enough to show me the way?" She has a thick cockney accent and spoke with long awkward pauses between sentences. "I'm new as well, but I happen to know where the school is so just follow me." You say, badly imitating her accent. She just stares at you without saying anything and then you start walking together. You arrive at your school after ten minutes, which felt like an eternity due to your new "friend" not saying a single word to you and only answering with a single word if you ask her something. At least you now know that her name is Emily. The bell to the first Class rings and you enter the classroom with twenty-five faces staring at you, Emily's being one of them. You find an empty seat and take out your books for the first lesson, English. The teacher calls you and Emily to the front and you both introduce yourselves. At the end of the day you feel like you almost died of boredom and you return home straight onto your bed.
