Barry's Point of View

I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing, all I see is an unknown number. Before answering I check the time. Who would be calling at 3AM?

"Hello?" I mumble down the phone.

"Hello is this Barry Allen?"

"Yes it is, who's speaking please?" I try to sound as polite as I can at 3 o'clock in the morning.

"My name's Dr Rose Miller, I believe we have your friend Caitlin Snow here in hospital. She's not in a good condition Barry."

"I'll be right there." Hanging up immediately I get clothes on speed to the hospital. Walking in the front doors in a rush I see a lady with the tag 'Dr Miller'.

"Hi, I'm Barry. Looking for Caitlin." I rush my words out not wanting to wait another second before seeing her.

"You sure did get here fast Barry, she's in room 103." Dr Miller looks confused as she speaks.

"I live close." I say as I'm walking away, towards Caitlin.

I open the door to see her still, bruised body laying on the bed. I sit by her side taking her hand and kissing her cheek. Her face is covered in cuts and she has an oxygen mask on. I have to know who did this to her.

"Caitlin, it's me. I'm here. Please wake up Cait, I can't lose you. You probably can't even here me, but I can't lose someone I could be falling in love with. Please stay with me." The words come out with no thought, I wasn't ready to tell Caitlin how I was feeling but that wasn't the first thing on my mind. A nurse walks in to check on her condition.

"Why does she need this?" I ask pointing to the mask.

"Her lungs have taken quite a blow, she's struggling to breathe without it."

"Will she be okay?" I ask, terrified to know the answer.

"We can't say for sure. After looking at her it seemed she had been knocked out for at least an hour before we found her. We were shocked The Flash didn't do anything." She shrugged.

"I'm sure he's hating himself for this too. I won't let her die." I say with tears in my eyes.

"We're doing our best, we won't either Sir." I nod, and she leaves.

I let the tears fall. I can't stop thinking about her, cold and alone on the floor for an hour.

"I'm so sorry Caitlin."

***

I find myself waking up with my head on Caitlin's hand. I can feel the tear stains on my face, I must've fallen asleep. I look up to see Cisco standing at the door and he walks in.

"How long have you been here?" He asks shocked to see me.

"Since 3." I whisper.

"Barry you look exhausted, go home." He says placing a hand on my shoulder. I shake my head.

"I'm not leaving her, not again. I can't." Another tear falls.

"Barry, this wasn't your fault, none of us stayed with her." He says.

"Yes, but I should have. I should have stayed." I gently kiss her hand.

"Anyone would think you're in love with the girl." He laughs, trying to lighten the mood.

"Yeah, that's crazy." I try to laugh but it was a weak attempt.

I never let go of her hand. Hours went by whilst me and Cisco spoke about literally anything that wasn't related to what happened. Deep down, I think I know who could have done this though. Seems my secret will be coming out sooner than I thought.
