RENESMEE
My favorite thing in the world has to be laying in Jacob's arms. I always feel warm and safe and happy with him, and watching a scary movie with the Pack and their girlfriends- minus Claire, who is just a family friend of Quil's- at his house is no different.
I pretend to not notice the fact that Jake has been staring at me this whole time, but I notice. God, do I notice. I notice everything he does, no matter the time or place.
My head is resting on his chest, and while one of my arms is laying across his stomach, my fingers brushing softly against his side everytike they twitch, my other arm is pinned beneath my body. Sure, this position hurts, but I'm too worried about messing this up to even bother fixing it. I'd much rather be in pain and be with Jake than be painless and without Jake.
His arms tighten around me ever so slightly, and my lips pull into a smile as I nuzzle myself closer to him. I hadn't wanted to ask before about his interest in watching me so intently, but I can't hold back my curiosity now: "Why aren't you watching the movie?" I murmur, forcing myself to keep my eyes on Jake's tv.
"Because there's something I'd rather watch." He whispers back, readjusting his arms around me yet again. My knee brushes against his outer thigh, and my nose drags for half a second against the exposed skin just below his throat, and the combination together make Jake shiver.
Suddenly, before Jake or I get any warning, a pillow is thrown roughly, smacking Jake right in the face. I fall back and away from him with a surprised laugh, finding Jared and his mischievous grin almost immediately. Kim sits beside him, watching with an amused expression as her boyfriend taunts Jake. "Shut the fuck, will you? Some of us want to watch the movie."
Reaching out with one of his legs, Jake kicks him roughly in the back of the head, and Jared falls forward slightly, cursing heavily as his hand flies to his neck. "We're not doing anything." Jake grows, frustration coating his voice.
I bite my bottom lip, trying to hold back a laugh as I grab the pillow sitting next to Jake and hold it gently in my arms. Here we go.
Jared whips around and grabs his foot, yanking Jake off the couch without a second thought. Thanks to Jared, he falls to the ground, slamming his forehead against the leg of the coffee table, and pain ripples across his face as his hand flies to his temple.
The sight of Jake in pain makes anger and worry flare up in my chest, and I stiffen, scanning him quickly for any major injuries. He seems to have only knocked his head, and even that wasn't too bad. Plus his advanced healing should protect him from anything major-
He groans, pushing himself up from the floor into a sitting position. Narrowing his eyes, Jacob grits his teeth and glares daggers at the half-smirking, half-glaring werewolf sitting only a few feet away. Everyone in the room is dead silent, watching him carefully, as am I, but as I look closer, I notice how his hair is ruffles haphazardly and out of control, and his cheeks are flushed- most likely out of anger- and I can't stop myself.
I burst out laughing.
Jake freezes, the tension in his shoulders melting away as he turns to look at me. His eyes are wide and surprised, full of curiosity at my amusement.
Squeezing my eyes shut, I clutch the pillow to my chest and press my face into it, my whole body shaking with laughter and I just can't stop, because the image of Jake's surprised and enraged face is burned into my memory, and I shouldn't find it funny, but I do, god I do.
