"I promise you're not going to get hurt", Jacob led Connie into the bedroom with the intention of calming her down so they could sleep,

"Promise..." she repeated quietly, "No, I don't want to...",

"Hey, look at me", he waited until she looked up before continuing, "Nobody's going to force you to do anything, I just want you to get some sleep".

"Sorry", she sat on the edge of the bed and stared down at the floor, "What was that?",

"What was what?", he sat beside her, pulled her closer and listened intently for any unusual noise,

"I think someone's downstairs", she pulled away and sat on the floor, "Please... Don't let them hurt me".

Jacob carefully picked her up and allowed her to cry on his shoulder, "I promise there's nobody here, I'll go check if you want?",

"Put me down, I don't like it, please?", Connie felt herself being put down and took a deep breath before she dropped to her knees with a loud thud,

"Con? Come here, beautiful", he attempted to lift her but she was reluctant to get up.

"I need to do this... I don't want to be broken anymore",

"You're not broken", he crouched in front of her and held her hands, "I'll wait as long as it takes for you to get better, I'm not expecting you to do anything before you're ready",

"What if I'm never ready? You'll get bored and leave me... I don't want you to leave me", she allowed him to pull her up and sit with her on the bed.

"I'd have to be crazy to leave you, you're perfect", he gently kissed her cheek,

"Stop lying! You know I'm broken... I've got scars, I know I'm stupid for not looking out for myself but you don't have to lie to me",

"I'm not lying, I think you're perfect and I'll tell you everyday until you believe me. You're not broken",

"Can I ask you something?", she waited for his nod of approval before continuing, "Can I go to therapy? I know I made a fuss about it earlier but you were right... I need it".

"I'll make an appointment for you, but right now all you need is sleep", Jacob held Connie tightly against his chest,

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have hit you, I deserved to be put in my place", she pulled away slightly but remained in his embrace,

"No, you didn't deserve it. Someone as beautiful as you only deserves love, I'm so sorry I hurt you...".

A/N: sorry this chapter is short, I haven't had much free time lately, the next one will be longer and hopefully up before next weekend 😘💞
