  The two girls stood close together, the sun shining high in the sky behind them and forcing their silhouettes to cower on the ground among the heat waves as cicadas provided a blanket of white noise as a natural symphony.

"I will...obliterate Brittannia!" the dark-haired girl shouted, her long hair swirling behind her as the wind gusted past.
The girl with lighter hair smiled acquiescently. The two had known each other as children and were rather close, although they were different in one significant way.

The dark-haired girl's blood separated them, and it would stand as a future barrier between them for as long as they lived.

But neither of them were aware of it then. At that time, they were just two girls standing under the same sun.

It took years before they realized that it wasn't enough.
