Chapter Four

I wake up to really bright lights. Where am I? I try to move but my while body aches and my head is throbbing. I looks around to find a white room. This bed is so rough and uncomfortable. Am I in a hospital. What happened?

The door opens and a woman in scrubs comes walking in.

"You're awake," she smiles.

"Why am I here?" I ask.

"You were in a car accident," she informs me.

Car accident? When? Where?
I think for a minute
Oh yeah, me and Zeke were headed to a party.
Zeke.

"Where's Zeke?" I ask and try to sit up again. It hurts and I wince.

"Don't try to move. You'll be sore a couple of days," she says.

"Where is Zeke?" I ask again.

"Is he the boy you were in the car with?" she asks.

"Yes. Where is he? Please tell me He is okay," I plead.

Before she can answer, the door opens again and my mom rushes in.

"Hey told me you were awake," she says and is by my side like that.

"Mom. Where's Zeke?" I beg her.
She looks at the doctor.

"Leila. Zeke has multiple injuries. He also has some internal bleeding we aren't able to control. He is stable for now But we don't know how long that is going to last," the doctor tells me.

Tears start forming in my eyes, "No. No. No no. I need to see him. Please. Mom. Can i see him?" I beg. I attempt to sit up for a third time but my mom stops me.

"Honey, he isnt awake yet," she says soothingly.

"I don't care," I say shaking my head.

"We can take her to see him," the doctor say.
My mom nods at her and she leaves the room.

"Are you sure you want to get up?" my mom asks.

"I have to," I sob.

The doctor returns with a wheelchair.

"It might be hard for you to get out of bed so take your time," the doctor says.

My mom helps me sit up and I sling my legs over the side of the bed. It hurts but I fight through the pain. I need to get to Zeke. My mom grabs my arm and basically hoists me over into the wheelchair.
The doctor leads us down an elevator and through a hallway. We get to the room, the doctor knocks then opens the door.

There lies Zeke on the bed. His right leg is in a cast and he has a bandage wrapped around his head. He is covered in cuts and bruises.
More tears spill down my cheeks while my mom wheels me to the bed.

"Zeke," I cry softly while taking his bruised up hand, "Please wake up baby. Please be okay. I need you, please baby."
Zeke's mom who has been silent comes to my side and wraps her arms around me.

"I know sweetie, I know," she says and I can hear her softly sobbing too. How could this have happened?

"Please Wake up," I repeat, hoping he'll hear me and actually wake up. I spend all night by his side until I fall asleep.
