Day Two
------------
Today was actually kind of okay, Elizabeth invited me to the mall this weekend. She said it would be just me and her, like it used to be before she started dating Spencer. Well that was a load of shit. It was me and her and Spencer and his jock friends. Hooray
Being the typical boys they were, they insisted we stop at the fitness place. After a few minutes I told Elizabeth I'd be back and I walked to Forever 21. The smell made me happy and the vivid, pristine, contrasting colors comforted me. Even with my own job, I couldn't afford anything. I've always shopped at Forever 21 and thrift stores. It's all I could buy. I was okay with it despite endless taunting.
I ran over to the pastels and picked out pale yellow shorts. Size 4/5. Not too skinny not too large. I was certainly not fat. They fit perfectly so of course, I bought them. Smiling to myself, I walked back to The Fitness Zone.
To my surprise, it was empty. I texted Elizabeth.
TEXT TO LIZ- hey, whered yall go?
Within three minutes she replied.
-the boys got tired. At the food court.
I walked over to the food court kind of ticked off. I saw them at the first table. "There you are." One I vaguely remember introducing himself as Kyle said. "We were worried sick about you." He winked at me and then shoved a handful of fries down his throat. 'Sure' I thought to myself as he folded himself back into the conversation.
Elizabeth was in line, getting pizza so I went to go stand by her. "Hope, I'm really sorry I forgot that Spencer and them were coming when I told you. And I'm sorry about-"
I cut her off. "Don't be sorry. You're my best friend and you can make mistakes or forget." I say, masking my pain.
"Thank you." And then I walked back to the table.
"So", Kyle began. "Looking for some arm candy?" His expression was hilarious.
I laughed, like a bitch. "I'm sorry, are you asking me out?" It was rude but I could be rude. "Because that was terrible."
"Feisty." A boy behind him said.
"Excuse you?" I asked. And then I flipped off the table and walked off. I was almost at the bookstore when I heard pounding foot steps behind me.
His hair was dark brown and fell over his eyes, but I could clearly tell that his eyes where a stormy grey green. "Excuse me... Miss. But you forgot your bag." I remembered setting my bag down on the table behind the guys.
"Well, thank you." I blushed, taking the bag from him. "It was very nice of you. I'm Hope."
"Charlie", he said, flashing another noteworthy smile. He made a lame excuse and ran off.
I walked to my car and drove home in silence, ignoring the text alerts from my phone.
