Chapter 23

"Hey Hun, how are you doing?"

Mitch lay on his bed with Wyatt on his chest, thinking about Scott.

"I don't know. I'm so scared."

Kirstie let out a small sigh of pity. "I'm so sorry Mitch. But Scott will be ok, you'll see."

"But what if he... Isn't? What if he dies? I'll never forgive myself."

"Hun, he's not going to die. We're lucky that he isn't paralyzed."

"Yeah..."

A silence ran on each end of the phone.

"Well, I'm gonna let you go. I'll call you later to check in. Bye Hun."

"Bye."

Mitch hung up and set his phone on the dresser next to him.

So many thoughts ran through his mind. Travis, Pentatonix, his addictions, Scott.

His mind couldn't go to rest. He couldn't be at peace for one moment.

Not without Scott.

But no one can visit Scott today. He's resting from surgery.

Wyatt meowed and jumped off his chest, standing at the end of the bed.

Mitch sat up and leaned against his headboard.

His soft puffs turned into heavy breaths.

"No crying. No crying."

Scott could die.

Pentatonix would end.

He would go crazy with guilt of the murder.

His addictions could get worse.

Mitch tried to fight back his panic attack, but it soon overwhelmed him.

To stop thinking about it, he got up and fed Wyatt.

He came back to Wyatt in the same place as before.

Voices started taking over his head.

"You're a murderer!"

"You're the reason if Scott dies!"

"You don't deserve someone like Scott!"

Mitch collapsed on his bed.

"You should've died!"

"You're still fat!"

Mitch started screaming. "SHUT UP!!! SHUT UP!!"

When he got upset, he would usually run to Scott.

But he wasn't here.

He needed him.

Now.

Right now.

Or else.

Wyatt walked over and stood against Mitch's chest.

He started rubbing the sides of his face against Mitch's faint beard.

"I'm sorry we haven't been giving you much attention, Wyatt."

Wyatt started purring.

"Your daddies have been.... Very busy lately. I'm sorry."

Wyatt licked Mitch's chin.
