Alexander hears a knock on his door and he forces himself to stand up. He walked reluctantly to the door and pulled it open, tilting his head backward to look at Gad. 'A good afternoon to you my Prince' Gad says. 'Good day Gad, come in'. Alexander walks back into his room and sits on his office table as Gad hands him a scroll 'These are the reports you asked for my lord' 'I presume my father met with the architects this week?' 'Yes my lord and so far I can say that the work is going well' 'Oh please Gad, you know you have a bunch of lazy people as architects, people who are so shallow minded that they cannot accommodate the vision we have for this kingdom' Alexander said seemingly unimpressed 'I know my prince, but these are the best we have in the land.' 'That's what you think, have you made more inquiries or at least tried to find other people cause I bore of these boring propositions over and over again, I need people that are skilled in this job' Alexander says looking through the scroll with little interest. 'My Lord, I've searched and I can assure you that these are the best' 'Gad Gad Gad, enough, don't make me think that you are incompetent for your job' 'No sire, I'm the best at what I do' 'Then do your job! I'm going to be honest with you, we lack architects and we lack soldiers as well... where do we go from here?' Alexander asks tossing the scroll to the side table 'Err my prince I... I...' Gad says stuttering and there hear a knock on the door. 'Let me get that my prince' Gad bows and moves towards the door. He meets a guard panting and frowns 'Yes, what can we do for you?' 'My Lord, the slaves have literally lost their minds' 'What do you mean?' 'I rephrase my lord, we have them under control right now, but we have castigators of the uproar downstairs waiting to be judged by my prince' 'What are you saying?' Gad says beginning to become impatient, and Alexander walks to the door to meet them 'My prince I can handle this' Gad says bowing and Alexander ignores him and faces the guard 'What is the problem?' 'My prince, I was trying to explain that one of the slaves precisely, the girl who tends to the horses and two other people are guilty of instigating the slaves against us and they are at the hall as we speak, awaiting your judgement' the guard says bowing and Alexander raises his brow at him 'slaves, against you guys, you are warriors..no?' 'my prince,i'm afraid this people are strong, not that they managed to conquer us though' the guard said stuttering in fear as he tried to conceal his injured hand and Alexander frowned 'I'll be there soon' he replied, turning to walk back into his room.
Alexander and Gad walk towards the part of the throne room that was called the judgement hall. Here the King gave his verdict on matters concerning the kingdom. They find Amina, Asher and Ariston standing with guards around them staring at them furiously. The guards bow as the prince makes for his seat and Gad stands beside the prince facing them. 'Explain yourself, What exactly happened Gius' Gad says to a guard. 'Thank you very much for the honor my prince' the guard says bowing and Alexander stares at Amina taken by her beauty. 'my lord, one of the slaves was caught eating at the time, they were supposed to be working and while we punished him they interrupted us and turned the slaves against us' 'oh I see' Gad says looking at them sternly 'they would be punished...' Gad starts but Alexander raises his hand 'i want to listen to their defense, speak' Alexander says referring to Amina who stays mute and doesn't utter a word. 'my Lord she mocks you! This is an outrage! Gad continues on in anger and Asher speaks 'my lord...forgive us, we only reacted in the heat of the moment because he put his hands on a woman' 'who? 'Amina my Lord' Asher says, gesturing to her 'oh please, does it matter if he put his hands on her or not? She is a slave!! Gad says sarcastically and Alexander studied Amina's face carefully 'let them go' 'but he stole' Gad says 'who stole? 'well one of them' Gad replies and the prince turns to the guards 'which of them is the thief? 'n-on-e sire, I'm afraid during the uproar he mixed with the crowd and is disguised seeing they all look alike' the guard answers facing downwards 'then you have no case, I find no fault in them, send them to their quarters immediately' 'yes my lord' 'and one more thing, give them enough to eat, if you need workers and slaves you need to feed them to stay alive for you, and I do believe we have enough so why do you starve them to death?' 'i'm sorry my lord, it will never happen again' the guard replies bowing as Gad looks at Alexander in disbelief 'sire...' 'Gad you shall resume our earlier discussion and nothing else' Alexander says firmly and Gad bows 'yes my Lord'.
The guards escort them back to their quarters and order them into their rooms 'you have all been warned, today was really an eyesore but be rest assured that if this happens again the offenders will not live to tell the story, now move into your tents immediately! 'and you, you are the leader huh? You will receive double the amount of work than you have now, and mind you your stubbornness only puts you at a disadvantage' the guard says barking at Amina.
The night time brought worries to Amina. For the first time in her life, she was not quite sure about what the future held for her or her people. She leaned on the wall of the huge room that housed the slaves, unable to sleep and Ariston walked towards her 'can't sleep my princess? he said and she looked up at him quickly 'yea' 'may I please sit beside you? 'of course, sit' 'thank you' he said as he sat 'and you, why are you still awake? 'well, cause my princess is still awake' he replied with a smile and she chuckles 'and I thought that was the job of my personal assistant but even he answers the call of the night' she says looking towards Asher's direction and Ariston laughs 'well I've always wanted to work as a guard at the palace always thought it'll be an honorable job watching over my princess' Ariston says looking at her 'you've grown Ariston' she replies and he chuckles 'i know, now you sound like you are so advanced in age' he says with a grin and she smiles 'yea maybe not, but I'm older than you' Ariston nods 'i know but I still wanna protect you' Amina places her hand over his 'i can take care of myself, you should bother about you, it's a battlefield here' Amina says standing up to go to the window, she stares outside at the light and life at the palace and shakes her head at the darkness at the slave quarters 'these people treat us like animals, my people are become defenseless' Ariston walks and stands besides her 'but we do have hope, especially with you here' Amina nods 'thank you for believing in me'
