This one, is pretty simple. Like the traits, you have too keep it balanced, make it complex enough so that it doesn't look/sound boring to the viewer, but make sure that it's not so detailed that you don't even know what it is anymore. Then the features, make sure they are recognised by the viewer and well, look good. Here's one of my OCS CopyWRONG

Yeah I know, I'm not Da Vinci Or whatever, but it has some features too make it stand out

Yeah I know, I'm not Da Vinci Or whatever, but it has some features too make it stand out. My Favourite Detail is his oversized head, it makes you wonder how this thing isn't falling over.
Now, onto the colours (I'm British BTW) this doesn't bother me much as I never really colour my drawings of OCS. But the thing that you should NEVER do, is use eye-blindingly bold colours, like neon pink.

Clothes.

Ah, these things you put on and you don't know why. Hints for clothing is make it relate to your characters personality, so you don't have to read the whole thing to know how your character acts. Here's an example of that with one of my OCS:

Like I said, I'm not a pro at drawing. But you can tell this is more of a dorky, shy, dino-amphibian-girl. And one last thing, don't make your characters Edgy, which is trying to make your characters dark or creepy or whatever by dark colours and devil wings and also smothering them in red sauce. It's just not scary and really overused. It concludes of:
Torn clothing
A knife (It Looks like you made a jam sandwich XD(it's an overused weapon))
Emo hair
