It was high noon in Gerudo Valley. The blistering heat beat down on the battling platform. 3... 2... 1... GO!
Norby Gunnar immediately began charging his blast, but his opponent was gaining on him. He sidestepped to avoid the flaming blaster aimed at his head, and continued to charge his blast. Full charge, he saved it for later use. His opponent was above his head, so he shot multiple bursts from his blaster to catch his attacker, and score the first hit of the Smash. Sidestepping again to avoid the quickly aimed spark, Norby launched a Flame Pillar at the foot of his enemy, lighting up the ground beneath him. Norby jumped over his opponent, avoiding yet another attack, but his opponent was quicker, and started peppering the air with Laser Blasts. Norby quickly drew his Reflector, causing the blasts to bounce off and ricochet back to his opponent, hitting him square in the chest. While the opponent was stunned, Norby shot his Charge Blast at him, sending him flying. Norby had won.
"You've grown strong, Norby," his opponent complimented.
"Thanks, Master Maxwell," Norby thanked him. "Norbisse and I have been practicing."
"I can tell!" Maxwell noted. "I couldn't land a hit on you this time!"
"Well," Norby explained. "I was in the zone this time, and I had a sudden adrenaline rush from the sheer excitement of getting to test my skills against you."
"That can't be all there is," Maxwell added. "You are a very confident Mii, and extremely determined. This has allowed you to grow in experience."
Norby couldn't suppress a glow of pride. He managed to squeeze a bunch of compliments out of his teacher! What luck!
It had definitely been true that he'd been practicing with his little sister, Norbisse. Norbisse had become an excellent fighter in her own right, and was beginning to give Norby a run for his money during their friendly Smashes.
However, Norby wasn't just interested in Gunning, he wanted to master all three arts of Mii Fighting. In fact, he was already working on a Mech Suit for his Brawler. His father, Marty, had also been working on ideas for a sword for Norby, and was constantly giving him updates. Fortunately, it wasn't long before the sword was finished.
Norby headed home, wondering if his dad was going to be greeting him there with his sword. Norby had been living in his own Mii Plaza for a while now, and had quite a few friends that visited frequently. Sure enough, Marty was standing at the Plaza Gate with the finished sword in his hands.
"You finished it!" Norby ran up to Marty, excited to get to handle it.
"I finished it just today," Marty told him. "I wanted to surprise you when you got home."
"Thanks, Dad!" Norby smiled. Today was turning out to be a great one!
Norby peered to the path, and saw a Mii walking up. Norby waved to her, and she waved back. As the Mii girl came closer, Norby recognized her as Silverswan.
"Geeks rule!" Silverswan greeted.
"Hey, home slice!" Norby greeted back.
"So," Silverswan noted. "I think this is the seventeenth tag?"
Norby checked how many times he and Silverswan had tagged, and sure enough, this was the seventeenth!
"Yup, seventeen!" Norby confirmed. "I haven't tagged anyone more times!"
"Cool!" Silverswan agreed.
"Come on in," Norby welcomed. "My dad's here, too. He just finished the sword he was making for me!"
