~~Author's note~~
Hey guys! I'll keep this brief so you can just skim this over. Thank you so much for reading my story! Let me know what I could work on or what you would like to see. Maybe I'll put in suggestions. I'm also just going to make a short chapter because lately I've been pretty busy in thinking what college I should go to. So that's another thing to worry about. I'll hopefully post a longer one on Monday. ~Thanks
~~~~Now on to the Story~~~~
When the darkness creeps in, I feel my nightmares watching me. And when my dreams are sleeping, I feel my nightmares watching me. You better wake up cause I am making moves, and even when I'm dozing I'm breaking rooms, I'm only hitting the sack when I'm training, too busy trying to keep up with the latest snooze.
She could feel their breaths on the back of her neck. No matter how far or fast she ran, all she could feel was a presence staring at her and wicked grabs at her clothes. She had the urge to stop suddenly and let them take her, but she knew better. If she stopped running she'd die. I need to get out of here! But I'm so tired. No, if I stop they'll get me! What am I running from? What's after me?
She stole a glance behind her and saw something that made her breath hitch in her throat. Behind her was a--the-- pair of yellow glowing eyes in the middle of a black tornado like when the mirror shattered. That had to have been a dream though right? Just a figment of Ellie's imagination. Or so she thought.
The tornado behind her grew in size and lurched over her. You can't keep running forever, Ellie. It seemed to say that, but it never actually said anything either. It was like it was speaking to her in her mind. You'll get tired eventually, Ellie. Just give up and submit.
"NEVER!" Ellie kept running. She ran until she felt like she was floating. Looking beneath her, she saw the ground in the distance. She was...falling? Her stomach dropped as the ground was racing to catch up with her. Ellie closed her eyes and with a sickening crack, everything faded to black and a shrill laugh filled her ears.
~~~~~
Ellie sat bolt upright covered in a cold sweat. She was out of breath and felt like she actually had ran that entire time she was asleep. But it wasn't the dream that woke her, it was a low growl beside her that did. She looked next to her and made out the shape of her dog, Cooper, sitting on the bed with his hair standing on end.
She followed his gaze and saw two pairs of yellow glowing eyes staring at her from the foot of her bed. Ellie rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't dreaming but no... this was real. She looked back in fear of the pairs of eyes and pulled the covers up to her mouth, where she proceeded to nervously bite it. The pair of eyes seemed to float closer to her, which made Cooper snarl and growl louder.
Ellie, the eyes seemed to say. Be careful who you trust. Be careful what you do.
Ellie was filled with fear even more. How did the eyes know her name? What do they mean? Why are they trying to help her? Thoughts like these enveloped her mind and gave her a headache.
Suddenly, there was a dark mist, darker than the night, that surrounded Ellie and Cooper. Ellie couldn't breath and Cooper started hacking. She heard him whimper and wrapped her arms around him, trying to drag him off the bed and out of the room, but it was to no avail. She felt herself loosing consciousness but fought it to get Cooper to safety. Her arms felt like lead weights and her lungs felt like they were on fire. She collapsed just when she got out of bed from the weight of Cooper and the mist dragging her down. The mist suddenly turned heavy and pinned Ellie to the floor. Whatever consciousness she had was gone.
