“Are you sure you want to do this?” Asked Hanna Marin, Caleb’s faithful but fretful girlfriend.

“Hanna, I’ll be fine. Just try to stay out of trouble in Rosewood, okay?”

Caleb was about to board the only train to Ravenswood, the creepy town just outside of Rosewood. His dad had just bought an apartment there, and Caleb figured he wanted company. He also wanted to search around town for clues of the fiend ̶ or fiends ̶ that devoted the last three years of their miserable lives to tormenting Hanna and her friends. Ravenswood had as many secrets, if not more, than Rosewood, and Caleb was determined to uncover them.

“Only if you stay out of trouble in Ravenswood.” Hanna sighed, resting her head on Caleb’s shoulder. “Be careful.”

Caleb kissed the top of Hanna’s head. “I will. Promise.”

The two held on to each other for a long moment, then kissed goodbye.

“I love you”, Hanna whispered with a tear sliding down her cheek.

“I love you, too.” Caleb kissed Hanna’s tear away and boarded the train.

Hanna lingered at the bus stop until the train sped away. He expected to receive frantic texts from Hanna for the next few days when his phone buzzed just a few minutes later. That’s my Hanna, Caleb thought with a smile.

He arrived in Ravenswood thirty minutes later, but had to catch a ten-minute taxi ride to the apartment. The whole town had a strange, eerie glow to it that made it look like the very soul of Ravenswood, and all its inhabitants, had been drained out.

“This place gives me the creeps”, Caleb muttered to himself.

“He walked up the cracked marble steps to his father Jamie’s apartment, toting only a duffel bag.

He looked on to the city sign across the street.

“Welcome to Ravenswood”, it read. “Where bad things of the past are forgotten.”

Now, Caleb thought darkly, but not for long.
