Chapter 2: Air "Fresheners"

It was going to be so awesome. I got to say, this was probably one of the best ideas I had come up with then. No one, not even the principal was going to expect this, even though they knew me well already. I'm pretty well known around this school to my fellow classmates and teachers, mostly for the pranks I pull on them all. They say it's annoying, but how else are you gonna make a class fun? Besides, my pranks from before would be nothing compared to the prank I was about to pull. This joke alone will be a perfect introduction for the new students... heh...

About 10 minutes before the bell, I made my way to the auditorium to get everything ready. I took off my bag and took out my material.... I never share my recipes, but let's just say I had created a solution that recreates the scent of human flatulence; in other words, I created a bottle of farts. I then poured equally divided amounts into multiple empty cans of air-fresheners. Then I took some tape and taped the top of the fresheners down, as well as the nozzle. The fresheners will spray and spray, but the smell will build up, until it finally combusts.

Now all I had to do was put them in the right place, which meant putting them in the areas where ventilation flows, which meant...the air vents. It wasn't too hard to get up there, and all I had to do was throw them in and let them work their magic. Perfect. Everything was ready, and not a moment too soon, because as soon as I threw in the last air- "freshener" , the bell went off. I jumped out of the vents and walked to the hallways to join my class that was on their way to the auditorium I just booby-trapped.

The place was crowded. There were quite a few students coming in that year, which meant even more people learning who I was, which was great. Every class was led to their respective areas to sit and I went along to mine. Once everyone was seated and quiet, the principal began her address. She usually reuses the same speech every year, so by then us returning students could have recited this speech from memory.

Because of all of this, the returning students were left pretty bored doing nothing,

"Hey," someone said, "Welcome back. I haven't seen you in a while. How'd summer go for ya?" I looked behind me to see an old "friend" of mine. His name was Jeff. Being the captain of the soccer team, he was a pretty...big guy; both in terms of popularity and build. Sadly, he also has a tendency to bully kids for stuff he wants, which is the reason I'm even friendly with him. Being friendly with him is the only way to escape his hit list, and you do NOT want to be on this guy's hit list.

"Pretty good, man," I replied, " Got a lot of stuff done in terms of experimenting. I now know that every single prank I'm gonna pull this year is safe."

"Oh, so I see you've already got all of them planned, huh?" he asked me with a grin. "How about you name one..."

"No way," I interrupted him,"My pranks are for me to know alone. But I can assure you that you're not gonna miss the show." I said with a sinister grin. He looked confused.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"You'll see."

I asked to go to the bathroom. The confused look on Jeff's face now became a worried one. As lovely as it would be to see  his face when she picked up the scent, I did not want to be one of the many who may have to wash their nose after the speech. So I quietly eased myself out into the then-empty halls. The only sound in the halls were the echoes from the speech in the auditorium. It was terribly quiet in there, which implied that everyone in the school sat in the auditorium. Wonderful. I made my way to the door leading to the back of the auditorium, all the while having on a rather smug look on my face. I began to approach the door, and out of it burst multiple students and teachers holding their noses running for the bathroom. One teacher looked at me in scorn as he ran for the hills, and I maintained my smug look. With no one to hold me back, I strolled right onto the stage and up to the mic where the principal once stood.

"Welcome to NJ Middle School, new students! Today marks the day all of you start your journey. I'm not going to say much, because I would just be repeating the principal's words, so I'll just say this: be prepared, or suffer the consequences. Be alert, or prepare to be bullied. But most of all, be ready for anything, or you won't know what hit you!" I walked off the stage and out of the auditorium still maintaining my smug look, until a  bunch of teachers yelled my name somewhere down the halls.

"LENNARD!!!!!"

Ah...it's good to be back.
