The Locket and The Eyes

*FLASHBACK*

The first day of summer meant only one thing – the biggest party of the year held at Ava’s swanky mansion of a house. Ava’s house had five floors – one floor was the living room along with the dining area and the theatre room, the second was for her mother, the third for herself, the fourth was for the live-in maids and the last was Ava’s favourite floor – the music floor. Everything on that floor was music related. Her dad was a music maniac so he dedicated one floor to music. Ava’s backyard had a Victorian style swimming pool along with private access to the beach.

          Ava was getting ready for the party.  There was one person straightening her hair while another was doing her nails. She had put on a hot pink dress which fit in all the right places and high heels. Her pet Chihuahua, Raisin, was lounging on her bed. While all this was happening Ava’s mom, Eleanor, walked into the room with a smile on her face which extended to her ears. Ava noticed that her fingers were intertwined with those of a man. Ava looked at him and her heart did a little flip. Eleanor exclaimed, “This is my boyfriend Aiden.!!” Aiden asked her how she was doing and Ava greeted him with a smile and a twinkle in her eyes. Ava’s parents had been divorced for 5 years now and her mom had dated many men since then but this was the first guy she had introduced to Ava.

          As Aiden and her mom left the room she couldn’t help but check out his ass. His image filled her head. His sexy face and the deep tone of his voice made her blush ever so slightly. His bluish green eyes and his blonde hair looked so perfect with his muscular arms and tanned skin.  Ava thought he mustn’t be older than 25. Thinking about all this made her remember her boyfriend, Zac, who was going to be here any minute. She quickly snapped out of it and got back to making sure that everyone was doing their job perfectly.

   It was just after 6 and all the guests were pouring in. The music was blasting from the stereos in the backyard and there were people busting a move on the makeshift dance floor on the basketball court in the backyard. There were about a dozen couples on Ava’s floor making out and there were some helping themselves to a drink from the bar in the living room. Ava was dancing with a different group of people every time the song changed. Many a times Aiden crossed her mind. His voice and how tall he was. How his t-shirt allowed her to see his well defined 6 pack abs. She would keep looking up to see if she could catch a glimpse of him on her mom’s floor but then she would remember that her mom wasn’t at home. Then her eyes would fall on Zac having a good time with all of their friends and she would feel guilty for thinking about another man even though she had the perfect boyfriend.

Zac came to Ava when he saw her all alone and whispered sexily, “Wanna dance?”. Ava blushed and nodded in reply and he pulled her onto the dance floor. He held her close and swayed slightly. Zac started kissing her tenderly on her neck and said, “I am gonna miss you so much when im gone.” Zac was leaving for Italy the following week and would only return once school started. Ava said she would miss him too while a tear rolled down her cheek. This was the first time they would be spending so much time away since they started dating. It really upset her. Of course there was skype but it wasn’t anything compared to actually holding him and cuddling with him on the couch. As if sensing this tense moment between the two, the DJ announced that the next song would be a slow song and it was dedicated to all the couples present there. Ava and Zac were really close and were swaying with the music. Zac kissed her on her forehead and pulled her even closer.

          They danced a few more dances together and then went to get something to eat. Some people had left by now and those who were left were really drunk. Soon everyone had left leaving only Ava and her posse. It was a tradition to have an all girls sleepover on the first day of the summer vacations, so even Zac had left some time ago. Ava and her friends moved up to Ava’s room and changed and got ready for their pillow fight like every year. They took all the pillows they could find and started hitting each other as hard as they could. Ava seemed a little distracted and Natalia, her best friend, noticed this. Natalia made a mental note of asking Ava what was distracting her once everyone had slept. They all talked for some time and did each other’s hair and everyone slept. Natalia was finally able to ask Ava what was bothering her. Ava shrugged it off and said, “It is just because Zac is going away for three months.” Natalia comforted her for a while and then fell asleep.

          Ava was actually distracted because of something else. Rather someone else. She could hardly sleep that night, partially because it was well after the time she usually slept and now it was going to be impossible to go to sleep and partially because she could not stop thinking about the gorgeous 23 year old man who was with her mother on the floor below hers.
