Chapter 4
Ava got out of the bathroom and stopped herself from crying again. Her mother would be home soon and she didn’t want her to bombard her with a million questions on why she had been crying. She got to her room and called up Zac but he didn’t answer her call. She wanted to cry even more now. She kept calling him and it always reached voicemail. This was really horrible. She felt upset for blowing him off and decided to go to his house. She changed into jeans and a t-shirt and jogged up to Zac’s house. He opened the door and she wrapped her arms around him pulling him into a bear hug. She knew he couldn’t resist her. She apologised for blowing him off and promised she would spend the entire week only with him. She did not break her promise. Both of them had the best week ever. They went to the movies, the mall, made out at Ava’s house and then some more at Zac’s house. Then Zac left for Italy for the summer break. Ava was very upset and sat in her room most of the day or was on the music floor, playing away for hours on her guitar. Memories of Zac flooded her mind along with the sexy face of her mom’s new boyfriend, Aiden. She was so confused and she didn’t know what to do. She confided in her pet Chihuahua, Raisin, as her best friend was not in town either. This was the loneliest she ever felt. To top it all this year she wasn’t even going on holiday during the summer. Her mother was busy with work and she couldn’t take time off to go vacation.
One morning, she grudgingly got out of her bed and went into her bathroom for her shower. She put on the tap but there wasn’t any water. She thought there was some problem with her shower and decided to just use her mother’s shower instead. So she gathered her clothes and took her bath robe and went downstairs. She opened the bathroom door and there he was. She blushed and looked away.
It was Aiden. He didn’t lock the door because it was his girlfriend’s bathroom and he didn’t really expect anyone except Eleanor to come in there. Looking at Ava in her shorts and top he was practically drooling. He had liked her since the first day he saw her. He had fantasised about her and her face always popped into his head while he was making love to her mother. Just thinking about this made him realise how stupid he was being. He was her mother’s boyfriend. He couldn’t possibly like Ava. She was only 17. But he couldn’t stop himself. He had to kiss her once just to see how it felt. He walked up to her and shut the door behind her. She was looking down and hearing the door shut made her look up. Her eyes met his. She knew there was a connection between the two of them. She forgot all about Zac and leaned forward to touch his soft lips. He too bent forward and crashed his lips into hers.
He pulled her close. He slipped one hand up her t-shirt and the other slipped into her shorts. He nibbled on her bottom lip and she groaned. She opened her mouth and his tongue slipped into hers. His tongue roamed her mouth. She cupped her hand around his butt and squeezed it. He laughed in her mouth. His hands were massaging her body with love and tenderness and hers roamed his chest feeling his perfectly formed abs. He pulled her shorts down and massaged in between her thighs. Ava suddenly realized what she was doing. She pushed him away and said in a serious tone, “This is so wrong. This shouldn’t be happening.” But she knew how right it felt. They just connected instantly.
He left the bathroom and she took a quick shower and decided to go to the mall so that she could take her mind off all of this stuff. This was so wrong but it felt so right.
Over the next couple of weeks Aiden and Ava got together several times. They went out for romantic dates and they could talk for hours without stopping. Well of course they made out in the middle but they could have a real conversation. Once Aiden took her for a long walk on the beach and had packed a little picnic basket for their dinner. Ava loved long walks on the beach. It gave her a feeling of calmness. Aiden remembered this from a conversation they had and arranged this little date. Ava found this so romantic and she couldn’t help smiling the entire time. Of course to have these little meetings they had to lie to Eleanor. Ava felt terrible but she couldn’t help herself. He was just so perfect for her. Ava felt guilty about Zac too but she thought to herself that she would clear things out with him when he returns. She didn’t want to ruin his holiday. Natalia was back in town but Ava didn’t mention this fling with Aiden to her as she did not know how to explain it to her. She felt terrible but when she spoke to Aiden all her problems seemed to fly out of the window. She loved being with him but she didn’t know how she would ever face her mother if Eleanor got to know.
Sometimes Ava regretted the day when she walked into the bathroom to see a naked Aiden and other times she was glad that incident had happened. This confusion hardly let her sleep. She didn’t know who to choose or what to do or what she wanted. She was frustrated. She did not want to end things with Aiden because he made her so happy but Zac loved her so much and she didn’t need to sneak around with him. Within no time the summer had ended. Zac was returning and a new school year was beginning. Just before school started she called up Aiden and told him that she needed some space to figure out what was happening and get her priorities straight before she ended up doing something stupid. Ava hoped that the new school year meant a new beginning for her.
