Amira's Slave

Chapter 25

As the door clicked shut behind the Queen and she heard the familier sound of the Queen locking her in Claire sank down into one of the chairs. Life was better than it used to be when she was with Edward but she knew it would never be the same as it was when she served Amira. She would give up any chance of freedom if she could go back to the days of serving Amira in her room with Chelsea there to comfort her when she was scared. She would even take some of the Queens beatings if it ment seeing Amira again.

This new arrangement with the King and Queen confused her and she wondered how long they planned on keeping her like this. A slave would bring her breakfast every morning and she was allowed to eat it all with no punishments. Most of the day she was alone and she would clean the three rooms and the little bathroom.

Later on little Kali would come back from school. Claire liked Kali she a lively child but very gentle. Claire remembered how excited the little girl had been when she got home that first day. She had bounced around asking all sorts of questions and had attached herself to Claire. Kali reminded Claire of Emily and when she looked into Kali's smiling face she wondered if Emily would have looked like that had she not grown up in slavery.

In the evenings the King and Queen would return and once again they would all eat a meal and Claire would be included aswell. Claire was still unsure around the King and Queen and as soon as she finished eating she would retreat to her little bedroom. Kali would usually follow her and sit with her chatting away. It never seemed to bother Kali that Claire didnt add much to the conversation.

Deep down Claire was constantly worried that one day Edward would get her back. She knew when he did her life would be over and Edward would kill her as slowly and painfully as he could. She shuddered at the thought of him and how angry he would be since King Frederick had implemented his new rules. Before he had given her to the King, Edward and Aralia had been planning to leave so they wouldnt have to follow the new laws and Claire knew Edward had been confident that he would get her back to take with them.

Claire jumped back from her thoughts as she heard the locks being undone. It was only the guard bringing Kali back but Claire who was always expecting Edward still flinched everytime. Kali bounced in and put her bag down talking excitedly to Claire about her day at school. Claire smiled as she unpacked Kali's bag and put her things

away. She liked hearing about the outside world it had been a very long time since she had seen it.
