Kat stared outside the window of her sisters car, watching the world pass her by. She had a love/hate relationship with her current situation.
As of last week, she had been told she was to live with her sister im Forks Washington, until she could learn to control her temper.
I guess they thought, if she was in a constantly wet and cold climate, she wouldn't have a tendency to be so hot headed. Like that would ever happen.
Kat is the type of person who believes in staying in a very dry and warm climate. Her and cold weather just don't mix, and she's not to fond of the rain either.
But on the upside of her very grim situation, she gets to see her two best friends Mary and Bekah again. That's probably the only reason she wasn't screaming at this very moment.
"So how was your flight?" Nicole asked after riding in the car in silence for over an hour.
"fine"
"thats good"
"i guess so" and that was pretty much it for conversation. By the time they reached the house the weather had gone from a light rain to a full blown storm.
"guess that leaves out visiting Mary and Bekah" she said to herself as she took her two bags upstairs.
Her mom had promised to send some of her other things. So all she really had with her was her laptop, and some of her warmer clothes.
"im in hell" she said once her sister was out of ear shot, the room she'd be staying in was pink. Everything was either pink, white or lacy. The exact opposite of Kat's room back in Texas.
"i know its not really your style, But it'll have to do, until i get the attic cleared out" Nicole said as she straightened out the pillows on the bed, before looking at her sister.
"are you sure you want to live in the attic? We can redecorate this room" Nicole said, still in shock over Kats insistence to have her room be the attic or basement.
"I'm sure sis, thanks for worrying about me though" she said giving her sister a closed eye smile.
Nicole nodded, before patting her sisters shoulder, an understanding smile on her lips. "ill leave you to get settled" and with that Kat was alone.
After putting all her clothes in the dresser, and putting her laptop on the nightstand. The storm outside had gone back to a near quiet drizzle.
So without any hesitation, she grabbed her phone and jacket and ran for the front door.
"im going to see Bekah and Mary! Ill be back later!" She rushed out the front door, not waiting for her sisters reply.
Running down the street, looking for Bekah's house. The sound of her sneakers hitting the wet pavement, was all she could hear.
After about twenty minutes of mindless running, she finally made it to Rebekahs front door, only to find out she was at the Cullen's house.
"I should have waited until i got a car" She hissed under her breath, before she started walking towards La Push. Which would be a five mile walk.
'might as well listen to music' she thought to herself as she pulled out her ipod and started listening to her playlist.
Eventually she made it to the La Push border, only for it to start pouring down rain once again.
"Seriously!" she shouted up at the sky, Kat was positive somewhere in the universe, someone was out to get her.
Pulling the hood of her jacket over her wet hair, she began walking still determined to find Mary's house.
After a twenty minute search, Kat growled in sheer annoyance. Kicking a tree that had the misfortune to have the girl standing under it.
"now what did the tree ever do to you?" a voice sounded from behind her, the evidence of a chuckle in the others voice.
Kat spun around the hood of her jacket falling back down. The owner of the voice was a young man who looked to be in his late teens. He wasnt bad looking at all. Kat concluded, but she wasn't exactly in a very gracious mood at the moment.
"It decided it wanted to grow in this spot, causing a disturbance in the force, making my Jedi mind tricks on week minded fools, completely miss placed" She said sarcasm dripping from her voice.
The boy couldn't contain a chuckle this time. Kat sent a glare at him. She was in a terrible mood and wasn't afraid to show it.
"I haven't seen you around her before, must be a pale face from Forks, I'm Embry" He said extending his hand to the her, not at all affected by the glare Kat was sending his way.
"I don't expect you would, since i just got her yesterday, and I'm not that damn pale! Just because i'm not tan like you, doesnt give you the right to call me a pale face! So I dont give a damn who you are!" she snapped slapping his hand away.
"Your being rude, normally when someone gives their name, your suppose to give it back." he said a sliver of annoyance in his voice.
"Look here 'Embry', I'm tired, i'm cold, i'm wet, i'm hungry, and i'm lost, which leads to me being very pissed off! You do not want to mess with me!" She snarled, she was this close to setting him on fire.
"And on top of all of that, my parents shipped me off to this hell hole with no warning! My bestfriend Bekah isn't home! And her and Mary haven't answered my phone calls for over a month! So if i seem rude to you. Sorry but i think I'm entitled to be rude!"
Embry's gazed softened, as he scratched the back of his head. But at the mention of Mary a huge smile erupted across his face.
"Your looking for Mary Richey?"
"yes" she said plainly.
"i can show you where she is" At that Kat's whole attitude changed.
"could you really?" her eyes getting bright from the suggestion of seeing Mary again.A smile on her face.
'she looks nice with a smile on her face' Embry thought, as he nodded and held his hand out to her. Kat took it without hesitation.
"she doesn't live to far from here actually, You probably would have found it in ten minutes or so."
Kat nodded, brushing the wet hair from her eyes. Walking beside Embry, She was starting to feel a little bad for snapping at him.
But on a little bit, she generally didnt believe in taking back things she said. She was just glad she didn't set him on fire.
"So how do you make it all the way out here? I didnt see a car near by, did someone drop you off?"
"I walked, my cars back in Texas, and i didnt want to argue with my sister to get here" she explained, as she wiped the rain from her face.
"Where did you walk from?"
"uhm Maple street? I think, im not real sure" she admitted sheepishly. Embry looked at her in disbelief.
"you walked five miles in the rain?" He walked up Mary's driveway, trying to figure out, who walks five miles in the rain to see a friend.
"pretty much" She said letting go of his hand as she darted towards the front door. Embry couldn't help but laugh.
'who is this girl?' he thought as he walked behind her at a slower pace.
Kat knocked on the door, practically jumping up in down in excitement. She couldn't wait to see Mary's reaction.
But when Mary's mom answered the door, stating that she was also with the Cullen's this week end, Kat's hopes shattered, and her bad mood returned.
Who were the Cullens, and what made them so great, that her two best friends couldn't even answers her calls. Or listen to her messages to know she was going to be in Forks.
