 Deryns(pov)

My alarm went off a buzzing beeping disaster. I groaned and turned it off. I hate starting school all over again, I loved my free time. I pulled myself out of bed and got dressed in my usual. Loose pants a black top that hung off my shoulder and skater shoes. My hair was a blond mess but that's how I liked it .  I jogged down stairs to find my mom and Aria in the kitchen.

"Nice to see you made it out of bed Deryn," mom said with a smiled.

"Yup ready to start the day." I mustered up a fake smile she shook her head at me. "Wheres mother?" I asked. 

"Right here" she came up behind me and kissed my head then Aria's.

"Can I take the jeep to school today"? She wrapped her arms around mom.

"What do you think should I let her have the jeep," she asked mom.

"Oh I think Deryn's good for it," mom said.

"Alright," she kissed mom."The keys are on the hook, I have to go. You two, good luck at school bye." She was about to walk out the door then turned back." Oh and Deryn you better not scratch my baby."

"Promise," I smiled Mother left. "I'll be going too-"

"Oh no you don't, you'll sit down and eat this breakfast I made." Mom slid a plate full of eggs and sausage in my direction. I sighed but complied. Then like clock work, there was a knock on the door. Aria got up smiling to answer the door and there was Baz. They shared a quick kiss then Aria pulled her into the kitchen.

"Morning Erica and Deryn," Baz greated us.

"Morning Baz," mom gave her a warm smile. Baz is my sisters mate. They were practically mated since they could walk. I hated it, I still had yet to find my mate. I knew no one in the pack was my mate and most of the teens in our pack were already mated. That wasn't the only thing that bothered me. Baz was the next to become Alpha and being the strongest wolf other than Baz. Meant I was to become her Beta. Which in basic terms meant I was her right hand and do what she ordered. It was suppose to be a great honor. That I didn't want.

I wolfed down my food grabbed my bag an keys and headed out the door.

"Deryn I thought that we were going together," Baz called to me.

I turned around "And watch all the puppy love between you um... I don't think so."

Home room, I swear its boring as always. Every year it was the same thing over and over. Thank gosh this is my senior year. Then we were released to first period. When I walked into the room the most intoxicating smell in the world hit me in the face. The smell coming from a girl across the room.

My heart sped up as I locked eyes with a beautiful tanned burnette. I bore into those brown irises and I knew in my heart I was staring at my mate. I got lost in her gaze. I felt as if every peice of my life has fallin in place.  She gave me a smile and her face lit-up! I smiled back. This girl was my dream come true.

"Would you like to take a seat," the teachers voice broke through my mental haze. I gave him a sheepish smile and walked over to the nearest empty seat. Which happened to be as far away as possible from my mate. Just great, if I wasn't standing there like an idiot I could have sat with her.

Then realization hit me. My mate's a human! She didn't exactly smell human but that could be because I was her mate. This wasn't suppose to happen I figured my mate would belong to another pack, but this. What was I going to do?
