Leah's (pov)

I couldn't believe I was staring straight at my mate. Sexy blond female with the bluest eyes. Through out class I could sense her need for me. When she ran out I couldn't say my heart ached because it did. I couldn't understand why, she had to of known we were mates. At lunch I spotted her, I figured that if I ran into her that she'd be forced to talk to me. Deryn, I thought to myself.

"What was that?" My friend Jenna asked when I sat down.

"What?" I took a sip of my drink.

"The intense looks between you and dark and mysterious girl."

"Yeah, I felt like I was watching an episode of Vampire Diaries," Ashley chimed in.

"Her name is Deryn and I just ran into her," I couldn't hold back my smile.

"Okay sure," Jenna rolled her eyes.

"Sense when do you know Deryn?" Chandler sat down next to me. I looked over at him.

"How do you know her?"

"I had a couple classes with her over the years. I guess you didn't see her last year. she usually keeps to herself." Chandler talked about her like she was weird. I guess he would humans were oblivious to shifters.

"I like her," I stated.

Chandler almost chocked on his hot pocket. "As in like...like?"

"Yes, as in I think shes beautiful."

Ashley leaned in close."Your gay?" she whispered.

"This isn't about sexual orientation I'm just attracted to her." I waited for there reactions. Chandler looked disappointed and Ashley seemed shocked. Jenna smiled and shrugged.

"Understandable," she said. I smiled back and things went relatively normal. I didn't see Deryn the rest of the day. So now I had to face my mom, I was kind of worried to see her reaction.

The smell of cooking meat and fresh bread welcomed me home.

"How was your day," mom called from the kitchen. I set my bag on the counter.

"One I will never forget ."

"uh hum so what happened today that's so special."

"I met my mate." I bit my lip as I waited for her reaction. She set the bread down.

"Oh honey that's wonderful," she swooned and gave me a tight hug. I herd a few sniffles.

"Mom are you crying?"

She pulled back her eyes were watery. "I'm happy for hon. It's just my babies growing up. Before I know it you'll be off to college and having babies of your own.

I laughed "Mom I just met my mate and I'm not about to have babies anytime soon."

"Well go on tell me about him." There it is my mom always figured I'd end up with a strong man as my mate. Relax she'll understand, I told myself.

"well her name is Deryn and shes beautiful. Blond my height and has the bluest eyes I ever seen." The suspense was killing me.

"Your mates a girl. well there goes the grandchildren." She gave a small laugh.

"Mom," I said shocked.

She smiled "It's okay you can't help who your mate is. And I'm still getting those grandbabies.

I shook my head "Enough talk about babies, I'll be in my room." I sighed glad that the over with. But I wasn't out of the clear yet I still had to tell her my mates a werewolf. My plan ignore it till it has to come up. For now I planned on getting to know Deryn.
