Scorpio is around 16 years old...nearly 18. And Scalatro knows that. One day, Scalatro had to do the Subjects' check-up for the division. If they weren't in shape and ready, they were to be either sent back to the lower level of the divisions, or to be killed. Scorpio had just entered Scalatro's office for his turn, glaring at her, trying to not show how scared he was.

Scalatro: "Subject 18, Scorpion Division, 10/18 year status...16 years of age...controlled wrist, fast motion, high alert, extremely paranoid, social butterfly."

Scorpio winced at the entire report, it wasn't generally a good one, when you know the standards of the major and what she wants and requires.

Scalatro: "Tell me what's wrong with this report."

Scorpio: "...I'm not given the clear up of being 'superior'."

When you are Ayla, or Scalatro, they don't type up anything to do with how you shoot, you're personality, nothing like that. They just put your general data and the word 'superior'. Meaning that you are one of the most well-trained and powerful.

Scalatro: "Correct. I will give you your results later, you are excused."

Scalatro resumed on her paperwork. But Scorpio didn't leave the seat. Not looking up at him, Scalatro spoke in a soft, but firm voice.

Scalatro: "Working to be the best just to kill me is a motive you need to work on. If you want to kill me, wait until you're 18 and you can send the rest of your butterflies free."

Scorpio tried hard not to flinch at what she said. She saw right through him even though she wasn't looking. Scorpio slammed his hands on her desk, making her penmanship slide, drawing her eyes up to him in a venomous glare.

Scorpio: "Mind...if I'm the one asking questions this time? Ayla?"

Scalatro: "Go ahead."

Scalatro continued her work, not looking at the one in front who might just blow a gasket.

Scorpio: "...Why...did you kill my mother for...? What did she ever do to you?"

Scalatro: "Who told you I killed your mother?"

Scalatro was starting to sound bored, was in on her work, and didn't seem to care. But inside, memories of Mara flash through her mind, leading to the house fire. Scorpio's emotions flared inside.

Scorpio: "Everyone. Z. You get that right?"

Scorpio had been building up the courage to stand up to the demonic major and crack some information out of her. But Scalatro, being in the terrorism ever since this Black Crow started, had some barriers for this kind of talk.

Scalatro: "And your point is?"

Scorpio: "WHY?! Why did you take me from my mom?! Did you hate her-?!"

Scorpio was cut off by the absence of sound from Scalatro's pen. She wouldn't look up at him, she had been trying hard not to cry or kill him right there, for she needed him to kill her without making her kill him. But Scalatro began to crack...

Scalatro: "Your mother...was my best friend...and I...killed her."

Her choppy sentence surprised Scorpio so much that his eyes widen and felt pity for her. He could see that Scalatro was on the verge of tears, and gripped her pen, trying to hold it in. Scorpio's face soften and wondered if it was an exception in the protocol to pat your major on the back.

Scorpio: "Major? Why did you take me? Or was it someone else? How did my mom die?"

Scalatro said nothing. She wiped her face, and returned Scorpio with a newfound sense of hate. She glared at him more terrifying than she had ever had. She feared the fact that Scorpio had actually made her cry, and that he was just nothing more than a rookie, who couldn't even keep a straight face.

Scalatro: "I killed your mother, and that appears to be helping you. If you want to kill me so bad, I'll fuel your encouragement, that woman...she reminds me so much like you..."

Her voice was edged with all the taunting she could muster, convincing Scorpio greatly and carefully. He was pushed nearly off the edge. He ditched her in her office and stormed back into his room. Hiro wasn't there due to a mission. Scalatro sealed his door shut, and Scorpio flopped onto his bed. His anger didn't last long...he had never seen the major look so pale, and was so close to tears in his life.

Scorpio: "Maybe...Hiro was right...she might've been nice...to my mom. She might've killed her on accident."

But then what would I be here for, Scorpio wondered. His desire to kill the Terrorist Queen of the Black Crows, had subsided by a lot. He hadn't heard Hiro entering the room.

Hiro: "What're you talking about?"

Scorpio: "I...I got it! Z must've did something to my mother! Ayla's a good guy!"

At first Scorpio thought that what he said was too far fetched and clear wishful thinking. Hiro thought that too and poked him in the forehead. They both flopped down together on the bottom bunk of the beds.

Hiro: "The major did a number on you didn't she?"

Scorpio: "But I saw her...she was gonna cry...when we were talking about-"

He cut himself off. Hiro had just heard him say that he caught Ayla Sky, the cold-hearted, non-killable, 'Angel with a Shotgun' CRY. He shuddered at the thought of what she might do to him.

Scorpio: "...yeah...I am delusional."

Hiro: "Especially when you said that she was crying..."

The signal to sleep was on and the two both cuddled in their thin, paper-like blankets and fell asleep. Except for Scorpio, who still felt great pity for the woman who seemed wanted him dead.

Scorpio: "Maybe because I remind her of mom. She did say that she was her best friend."

And probably the only friend she had, he thought sadly. He tugged at his blankets, the image of her pale, solemn, face burned into his brain. Why was she inside his mind when she had just 'encouraged' him to kill her off of the avenging of his mother. Which, if this was the past, wasn't a bad idea. But now...he thinks that his mother, if they WERE best friends, wouldn't want Ayla dead. Then a peculiar thought crosses his mind.

Scorpio: "Huh...the name...Ayla Troyad Sky? That's so...old...but she's like...burning the name to us. I don't think that the name..."

I don't think the name is hers...
