(Not sure where I'm going with this but let's go, eh?)

• Promise •

"I have to go, (Y/N.) I'll be back soon."

You breath hitched as he paused, hesitating to continue

"I promise."

"Tino.."

"I promise." He repeated himself, exiting the room quietly.

"T-Tino..." You breathed, tears pooling in the corner of your eyes.

Two years.

Two years today.

Two years since Tino left and never returned, you weren't sure where he went.

But he certainly hadn't come back, at least not to you.

Of course you had dated around, a single, female College Student can't stay single for long, at least not here. However, none of them left you feeling how he did.

Alive and full of happiness and purity.

You lightly trailed through the Convenience store, your hands skimming against different types of treats and candies. Eventually you grabbed a bag of (Candy Flavor) Gummies and some Soda pop.

You quietly glided across the tile floor, looking over the other aisles for anything else. You craned your neck over the aisle, and you saw the top of a blonde's head.

Your heart beat picked up rapidly.

Tino?!

No, no, it ca't be him.

You looked over again to see the blonde look at you, he had large green eyes and was wearing a black hoodie, a frown on his face and he had multiple piercings.

..Not Tino.

Your eyes sunk with relief but also disappointment.

This darkened your mood and you were now sporting a frown similar to the boy's. You skimmed up to the desk, paying for your food and getting out as fast as you could.

Swinging open your car door, you hopped in and ignited it, the engine humming. Backing out, you drove out of the parking lot and back onto the road to your College Dormitories.

Swinging open the door, you popped open the pop bottle and slumped down on the couch, turning on the television and flicking to the news channel. Your hand crept over the the gummy bag and you popped a few, crushing them between your teeth and a syrupy candy exploded across your tongue.

Good candy, that's one good thing. You dully watched the News, where a tall man with gravity-defying orange hair was screaming about a Tornado halfway across the planet. You chuckled to yourself lightly, turning off the TV and pulling yourself up to walk into the kitchen.

Flicking on the kitchen section's lights, you decided on some (Instant food of some kind) for lunch, as you had no classes today and decided to be lazy today.

A knock at your door startled you, and you quietly skimmed over.

Clicking the doorknob you pushed open the door, and what you saw..

terrified you.

"T-T-Tino...?!"

The tiny blonde had a bouquet of coral roses and a sad smile on his face, he was sweating and looked to be crying.

"A promise is a promise.. I promised you I'd come back, didn't I?"

Your hands shook and you stumbled backwards, collapsing to the floor and began to cry.

Biting your lip, you suppressed a sob and pulled Tino to you. You both began to kiss passionately, tasting the salt of each others' tears.

Your heartbeat's laced together and you held each other close. Your lips danced and you felt your cheeks grow warm and pink, as were his.

"Oh love, my beautiful love. No, my precious. don't cry. I'm back, I'm not leaving again, I'm sorry I left for so long, I love you so very much, beautiful." He said in a hushed whisper, kissing your hair and grabbing your little hands, kissing them as well.

Your voice was hitching and cracking as you sobbed into his shoulder, hugging his neck tightly.

"I love you so much, (Y/N.) I won't ever leave you again. I'm home. I'm here." He whispered, crying again and kissing your lips gently.

"Where did you go?! Tino I was so scared for you.."

"I had to go to war for my country, I am so very sorry I couldn't tell you. I couldn't bring you into that hell with me, not you. Not my precious." He hummed, kissing your head, nose, lips, cheek, all over you.

You sat there, crying in each others' arms for hours and hours, kissing and hugging and crying, and..

Smiling.

His lips were dry and chapped, but you held them close to yours all the same. Cheeks hued with a vibrant scarlet, he began to plant feathery kisses across your jawline and your face, his grip tightening on you.

The serenity that was this moment rang in your head, waking you into a beautiful dreamland as you inhaled the fresh scent of memories and love and nostalgia.

Regrets and memories.

Black and white.

Dark and light.

All the most beautiful and the most painful things surrounded you in the land of dreamy haze, he was yours and you were his and only his.

He would lay down not only his life for you, but he would lay down his heart for you, with a passion, a rage, a fire. Secrets and untold lies would fall from his lips but they would from yours as well.

Your emotions flooded like birds in migration, a raging river, a perfect sunset, a blazing fire. So many things could be used to describe this but the word you chose would be nothing other than flawless.

You hearts would finally beat as one again and you would dance together in the stars. His face was like heaven to you and his voice was like a symphony of all the things you've ever regretted falling in love with, but cherishing all the same.

Your love was reckless and dangerous, daunting and dancing, twisting and turning with sadness and happiness.

But was it all real?

The thought had never struck you, you paused kissing the boy, looking at his eyes. They were purple..

What the..

No no, Tino has brown eyes. Rich, beautiful, mocha, ebony, chocolate eyes. The rarest and the most beautiful.

They weren't purple, purple is a sad color.

You broke out a cold sweat and felt yourself come to, you weren't holding him, you were holding a pillow and sheets and you were in a pristine white night gown. To your left on an oak chair was the Finnish War Nurse uniform.

A man ran into your room, and confusion was ruining your thoughts, where was Tino?!

The man was panting and he had a panicked expression.

"Miss (Y/L/N). I'm afraid that.. that.." He panted out of breath.

He then hastily brought himself into a salute as you sat up, and his gaze trained upwards, stiffening his body.

"Miss (Y/L/N). Sergeant Tino Väinämöinen has died in action, we apologize for this news."

It was all a dream.
