Rose and scorpius are in charms class which is taught by McGonagall.

" For homework students you will write paired reports on a charm of your choice, " Explained McGonagall.

" I will choose the pairs."

A series of groans are heard from around the class.

" In favour of house unity ,
You are all to be paired with a student from a different house , so :

Albus Potter you shall go with Chia Flint,

Illiana de-Marqse with Elliot Abbott ,

Celeste Avery with Katerina Bulstrode,

Amelia Nott with Sebastian Burke ,

Oliver Travers with Samuel Yaxley,

About ten pairs later.. ..

And Rose Granger with Scorpius Malfoy ; now everyone go and sit with your partners and discuss which charm you'd like to do ."

Everyone reluctantly moves seats.

" So Rose , I was thinking -

" We'll write about the Accio charm ." Interrupted Rose.

" And I'll do the project. I don't expect you'd want to do your own homework,  being in Slytherin and all ,"

McGonagall hears this.

" Actually miss Granger , Mr Malfoy usually completes his assignments on time , and in fact I would say , he's the only student who gets grades as good as yours ."

" Oh..." Rose is embarrassed.

" Yes well I would expect full effort from both of you on this project , a joint effort too, in fact,  I shall ask your parents to make sure you get this project done together. "

Students are now allowed to go home at the weekends sometimes if they live close enough.

Rose's POV

I suppose I should give him a chance.  House unity and all. Maybe slytherins might be okay ?

I suppose mum is right I should have some more friends out of Ravenclaw.

Scorpius' POV

Merlin! I actually get to spend time with Rose. I try to talk to her in school but she doesn't like me. I think it's because everyone knows my dad was a death eater so a lot of people are wary of me.

Meanwhile in the three broomsticks

" Get me another firewhisky will you ? " Draco requested to the server .

" You know,  day time drinking really doesn't suit you Malfoy.......

Draco looks up to see Hermione sat across from him.

" What's it matter to you Hermione?"

" Just curious why you're drinking alone in the middle of the day .Not a crime now is it ? "

" Well curiosity did kill the cat -

" Ah but satisfaction brought it back,  so tell me , what's bothering you ? "

" If you must know. It's my birthday today. And I'm spending it alone.
Scorpius is in school,  Mother is away getting me a gift from Italy , Astoria is dead ,and father's in Azkaban,  not that he would have cared anyway. "

" You're not alone Mal-
Draco...  I'll spend your birthday with you if you like. "

" Maybe that wouldn't be so bad...."

Hermione stands up quickly and looks at Draco.

" Well get up. If I'm spending your birthday with you you're going to have a good time , so come on we're going to Florean Fortescue's! "

Draco tries and fails to hide a smile.

He got up and they left to start his birthday celebrations .

2 hours later

Draco and Hermione are eating their sundaes. 

" You know Draco , I haven't the slightest idea how that can be appealing, " Hermione remarks.

" Well I was never a fan of strawberry myself Granger ," Draco retorts , nodding to Hermione's dessert .

They laugh .

" So , what presents have you had already ? "

" Well scorpius owled me a card , and a package with some quidditch memorabilia and some things from Honeydukes. 

I imagine my mother's gift will be another suit from that Italian designer friend of hers ." Draco said thoughtfully.

That leaves Hermione deep in thought over what to give Draco.
