Summer Afternoon

alone I sat
sunny summer afternoon
she sparkling came
her voice sang of the moon

enrapt I stood
lace and satin clad delight
assemblage hushed
her brightness Heaven's light

in love I slept
beneath the stars
the child our bed
Love's cocoon

still now in grief I weep
muchly still I lay alone
brightness flown
still I hear her in the deep
of a summer afternoon
