The Lake

***I went to Hume Lake this week and it inspired me to write this poem. It was, as always, an amazing experience. I definitely encourage you to look it up and to join in if you get the chance or to find a camp near you that's like it. I promise you won't regret it.

Here I stand out on the dock,

Looking out onto the placid lake.

The mist rises and I finally realize

This experience is mine to take.

I'll take it everywhere with me.

Dreams will come and dreams will go,

But I will always remember the lake,

Where it seems God put on a show.

I sway with the breeze and take in the view,

Invisible arms keep me from falling.

I turn in circles taking everything in,

And the wind whispers to me my calling.

My feet firmly planted on the ground,

But my head dances in complete awe.

My body clothed in warmth and love,

And yet there's a feeling of raw nakedness nobody saw.

I take this gift and I breathe it's essence,

Then I blow it into the wind to share.

This is what You wanted me to see,

A love and a beauty so innocently rare.
