The day was slow, seven classes, 6 hours of slow torture. The thing with Stacey wasn't the only weird thing that happened to me today. It was lunch time, and I had just gotten my lunch from my locker and was headed to the library. I spend my lunches there because I love reading, and the librarian is about the closest thing I could have for a friend. She lends me books that she thinks I might like and she lets me sit in her office to eat undisturbed by anyone, and by anyone I mean Sarah. Anyway, yeah, I was on my way to the library when I hear my name being called. Yeah, my name. Thinking it surely can't be me, I keep walking. Not caring to turn around and check.

I reach the library door and go inside. I say a curt hello to Miss Henry, the librarian, and she lets me into her office. I sit in to corner on the couch and start reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. It's pretty much my favourite book. Yeah, I was deep in the reading zone when I overhear a conversation between Miss Henry and someone. I put the book down and listen.

"....not meant to be in here" Miss Henry finishes.

"Yeah, I know Miss, but I saw McKenzie come in here, I want to talk to her, do you know where she went?" a male voice says. I peek around the corner and I see him. Justin. The guy I have had a crush on since 8th grade. I sink back into the couch and smile, why does he want to talk to me?

"Yes, she is here, but YOU'RE not. Leave now, before I give you a detention." Miss Henry says, raising her voice. She knows that I don't like talking to anyone, so she sends him away.

I kind of wish she didn't, but I'm happy she did. I watch Justin walk out of the library in a huff. He is so amazingly hot with his bronze hair and blue eyes like the ocean. He is one of the popular guys, so there is no way I could ever be with him. I find myself seriously daydreaming about him, I almost don't notice that Miss Henry is standing in front of me.

"... heard it was your birthday today, I got you a little something." she says handing me a perfectly wrapped gift.

"Oh, you didn't have to, but thanks" I replied, taking the gift from her outstretched hands. The bell then rings, signalling that the last two periods of the day will be starting in five minutes.

"well, I better get to class" I say awkwardly, getting up off the couch.

"yes, yes go. You don't want to be late"she says ushering me to the door. Just as I am out the door, I hear her call "happy birthday McKenzie!"

I shout a thanks over my shoulder and head to my next class, which happens to be English. It also happens to have Justin in it. I wonder if he will try to talk to me again. It was probably just a fluke, or maybe it wasn't me he wanted. I don't know, but maybe I will find out.
