"Fatty!" yells someone behind her.
She cranes her neck around to find a kid with an extreme case of nappy curls. She kind-of liked his hair. Bushy..."Bella is a fatty!" he squealed again. His accompanying friend with very blonde hair laughed along to his chanting.
"Big Bella!" the tiny blonde blurted. He had cracker specks scattered across his favorite T-shirt. A truck was printed on the blue material.
She hopelessly begins to cry at her two attackers, laughing mercilessly at her from behind.
She forgets the chocolate bar clutched in her palm, and lets it slip onto the multicolored sponge mat.
"Leave her alone," another girl shouts angrily. Her skinny frame is quite obvious, as she makes her way over to the crying toddler.
Picking up the fallen snack-bar, she smiles shyly at the crying child, and hands it back to her.
With a world-stopping smile, she plays with the hand-made bracelets on her ebony-shaded arm, and slides one off.
She hands it over to the distraught child. "You're not alone," the stranger whispers.
