I Feel like the world is resting on my shoulders and I keep letting everyone down.
Sitting in this iron cage, alone with no one to talk to, no one around. How long have I been here in the dark. I can't see anything outside my prison. The only glimmer of light is a single dim spotlight above my little bench in the far back corner. It smells highly of dust and rats. I can literally see the dust and dirt taunting me! Saying "HAHAH we are free to roam wherever we want and you're stuck in this iron cage!!"
I hear the footsteps of the man who took me that awful day. I look around, I never know where he comes from, only that he just shows up at the edge of the reaching light.
"I brought you mashed potatoes and ham today." He tells me in that ruff voice of his. He is wearing black boots, blue jeans, and a dark hoody. Hes tall and buff, he has a round, high cheek boned face with dark green eyes and jet black hair, for an old guy he is actually pretty good looking. I stand up and shuffle to get the only food that would for more than 24 hours.
He sits down on his chair and starts telling me about his family and his life. In the middle of his story I say me first words in what seems like eternity.
"Are you ever going to tell me your name?" My voice is so cracked and soft I didn't think that he would hear me, I just wanted to hear my own voice again.
He stops mid sentence and says "That's the first time I've heard you talk. What's your name?" He asked in such a voice that I can't say no,
"Vonika, Vonika is my name." It felt so good to say it again, it gives me hope for the future of being free once again.
