Jaime's POV
"Hey, Rae? Wanna go out and do something tonight? Just me, you, and Brynn?", I walked into the room and asked my girlfriend who was sitting on the wrap around couch between Tony and Mike.
"Uhmm.. sure. What do you have in mind?"
"I- Well, I haven't actually given it any thought but I really would like to spend some quality time with you two", I told her.
"Awww, Hime, that's so sweet!", Kay cooed as she snuggled closer to Vic on the reclining love seat.
I blushed a little and grinned like an idiot. "Sooo, what do ya say?", I asked Rae again.
"Yeah. Just let me go freshen up and get Brynn dressed and we can go".
*****
Aw, baby, this is so beautiful", I said as the three of us walked inside this really fancy and expensive looking Italian restaurant.
"Well, if you'd ask me, I'd say that a beautiful woman deserves only beautiful things", he said, making me blush. He took Brynn into his arms and grabbed my hand.
"Mr. Preciado?", the host asked Jaime.
"That's me", he said.
He nodded and we were then led through the restaurant to the outside balcony and escorted us to our table which had a rose vase and candles burning on it. There was a violin player strumming nearby for background music.
Jaime sat Brynn down in the high chair that was already placed at the table before pulling my chair out for me. "Here you go madame", he said and I blushed as I sat down. He pushed the chair back up to the table and then sat in his own.
"Here are your menus", the host said as he placed them in front of us. "I'll be back shortly", he said before walking away.
"Jaime.. this place is amazing. Didn't you say that there was no where in particular that you had in mind? This looks pretty thought out to me", I told him.
"Nope. Just suddenly felt like eating Italian", he said with a big smile.
"Here is a bottle of Chef Rizzoli's finest champagne", the host said once he returned and sat Champagne on ice in front of us along with wine glasses. "And of course, apple juice for the little one", he smiled and handed Brynn a paper cup and straw. "Is there anything else I can help you with at the moment?", he said.
"Oh no. We're fine. Thank you", I said.
"In that case, I'll return to take your orders in due time", he said, opened the wine bottle and walked away.
"You're such a liar!", I said to Hime. "How did he know to bring wine out. I'm sure that they don't just bring out the finest wine for every random guest that comes in".
"Okay. You got me. I did plan this, but only because I wanted to prove to you that there's more to me than a funny, childish, unprofessional guy. See, I can be classy", he cheesed and so did I.
"I'm sure you know that you don't have to prove that to me. And I love your funny and childish unprofessionalism", I grinned.
He picked up the bottle of wine. "Have some?", he asked. I nodded and held my cup to allow him to pour me some before he poured some for himself. "I just.. I know I've apologized a million times but, I can't seem to quite forgive myself so this is just something to show you just how much I care about you and Brynn", he said seriously.
"Hime, come on. What are you still apologizing for and why? Things are fine between us. Stop beating yourself up about the things you can't change", I ordered him.
"Yeah, I'm trying to. I just feel like I owe you so much.. because you most definitely deserve the world", he looked into my eyes and said as he reached across the table and grabbed my hand.
"You've already given me so much, babe. All I need is you and our daughter, and I have that now. That's what's important.. Our family".
He smiled his famous ear to ear smile and then looked over to Brynn who kept going "Papa, papa".
"Yes munchkin?", he asked her.
She pointed to the wine bottle and we laughed. "No baby. That's for mama and papa only", he told her. He grabbed her cup and shook it. It was empty. The waiter must have noticed because he came over and asked if he could refill it, which he did. And just like that, she was satisfied again.
"Sir and madame? Are you ready to order?", he asked.
"Yes, umm.. I'd like to have the chicken Alfredo with a side of broccoli casserole", I said.
"And I'll have the.. uhh.. uhh.. the.. hmm... let's see.. theeeee...", Jaime stalled, still looking down at his menu in search of an entree.
"He'll have the shrimp Alfredo.. with extra shrimp", I ordered for him since he couldn't seem to decide on his own. "And a kid's sized spaghetti for our tot", I finished.
"Yes madame. Is there anything else I can get you?"
"Uhm.. could you please ask the violinist to be a tad bit quieter please?", Jaime whispered to him loudly.
The waiter laughed. "Of course sir. Will that be all?"
"Could you bring out a little Parmesan cheese when you bring the meals?", I asked.
"Will do".
"Thank you", I said and the waiter nodded and headed over to the violinist.
"Did you really have to ask the violinist to be quieter?", I had to ask him.
"Well, yeah. Sounds like she has amps plugged into that thing", he said and I laughed. Jaime was always so dramatic and everything he said always had some kind of hidden humor in it, so I pretty much laughed at everything he said. I could never take him seriously. "Hey, Brynn?"
"Huh?", she looked up from playing with her straw to her father.
"Tell daddy just how much you love him".
"I love you thhhiiiissss much!", she said as she stretched her short arms out as wide as she could.
"Aw, really? Well daddy loves you thhhhiiiiissssss much!", Hime retorted and stretched his arms out much wider than Brynn possibly could.
"No daddy! You cheated!", Brynn giggled.
"No I didn't! It's not my fault that you're such a little person!"
I cleared my throat. "It kinda is, actually. I mean, you are the one who made her", I had to butt in.
"No, we made her. If I'm to blame, then so are you", he said in a sassy tone and snapped his fingers to prove his point.
"If I didn't know better, I'd swear you were gay half the time", I told him.
"What? You didn't know? Fuenciado is real baby!"
"Well maybe Vic should be the one sitting here in this tight dress in attempts to impress you", I argued.
Jaime stared at me for a second. "Nope.. I couldn't possibly imagine Vic in a dress. I just bet that's the worst sight", he said seriously but of course I laughed.
The entire night was so magical. We had a great time joking and laughing and just enjoying each others' company. It felt o right. Me, Brynn and Jaime.. we had each other and that truly was all that mattered.
