Hey guys! So here I am with the supernatural story I promised you guys – finally! I know I have like 3 stories to post now, but I will definitely finish My Imperfect Mr Perfect as soon as possible, and then focus on this one and AHTL. I wasn't really sure of what this plot should be about at first and that's what stopped me from posting this story first as I'd planned. But as days passed a plot started forming in my head, and when it all finally started making sense, I couldn't help but write it down. Don't worry I won't start this story until MIMP is complete. I just thought I'll post this since it's already written and a lot of you wanted the supernatural one, so this is just me letting you know that I haven't forgotten about it :)
This story is close to my heart as it's inspired by a real life story (obviously excluding the supernatural part of it ;)) of a very close friend. And so in this story our Khushi won't be the perfect, crazy, moral girl, but a simple girl with her own imperfections, who makes her own mistakes. I'm going to try and make this story as realistic as possible – I know, the irony of it [LOL] – and I hope you like this attempt of mine. And I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I enjoy writing it...
Secrets of Flames – Prologue
Khushi Kumari Gupta.
The simple, boring, book-worm of the college. That's what everyone thought of her.
A smart girl who passed every test with over 95%. That's what everyone assumed about her.
The nun who didn't know how to enjoy life. That's what everyone presumed about her.
Assumptions... Assumptions... And more assumptions...
That's what Khushi's life seemed to be revolved around.
No one around her seemed to actually know the real her – or should I say, no one wanted to.
Khushi was always a quiet, reserved person who respected the words of her elders.
She was an only child, and her parents had brought her up with utmost love and affection. But ever since she was a child, her parents had always made her focus on her education. They had drilled into her head that education should be her first priority in life. Her parents themselves were not highly educated, and had struggled a lot because of it. They didn't want their daughter to go through the same thing, so they always encouraged her study as much as possible. And on top of that, they brought her up as a girl with a strong sense of culture and morality.
When she had been young, she had indeed been a boastful girl who was proud of academic skills. When she would finish all her questions, she would put her hand up in haste to boast to the rest of the class that she had finished first. When she would go to her cousin's house, she would be more interested in working on maths than watching an English movie with her. When she would speak to elder children, she would want to prove herself smarter than them.
She had been a child at the time, so she didn't know that what she was doing was wrong.
But when she grew up however, things changed. She no longer wanted to showcase her talent, but wanted to hide it. She never tried to make herself seem bigger or smarter than anyone else. She grew up to be a very virtuous girl, and strictly had her own views and opinions on culture, morals, and many other issues but she was also very liberal when it came to accepting other people's opinions and understanding their POV.
However, even now, when she was in college, so many years later, the only thing people seemed to see was the quiet, book-worm who spent her whole life studying and passing papers with 95% or more.
Sounds dramatic I know – but that's what people seemed to think of her.
But that wasn't reality. Not at all.
She was quiet, only because that was just her nature.
She was certainly not a book worm – in fact, she hardly ever touched her books. She was a naturally smart girl who didn't need a huge lot of extra revision to pass her exams. She learnt a lot, simply by listening. However, sometimes due to her lack of studying she even gets marks as low as 60% or less, but no one seems to see that. All they see of her is a perfect illusion that simply did not exist.
And as for not enjoying life – she did enjoy life. But just in her own way. She watched TV Serials, watched loads of movies, sang lots of songs and spent a lot of her time dancing.
The only person who was closest to knowing the real her was her best friend Lavanya. They'd met each other during high school, and had slowly become good friends with time.
All her life, Khushi had felt lonely even with so many people around her. And she had only one wish from life...
That the man of her life would actually see her for who she really was, and not the perfect illusion that everyone else saw... That he would love her for what she was... And who she was...
This is the story of a simple girl, with a simple dream and a simple life.
Only, her life was about to turn upside down, going from simply simple to complexly complicated.
