Ed rolled instantly to his side, Abigail screaming as he enveloped her in his arms. The beasts massive mace struck the ground then momentum caused the creature to crash into the door, breaking it shut.

Ed dropped Abigail and rushed Vordt, his sword brandished ready to thrust. Ed's sword struck a plate of armor on the creature's flank.

The sword slid off in a shower of sparks. Ed pulled his shield into his left hand. Vordt leapt close away and swung he mace at Ed. Ed caught he force of the blow into his shield, the force shattered the shields surface but was enough to redirect the trauma.

Ed rolled away again throwing the remains of the shield. He gripped the sword in both hands and charged again. Vordt met his charge with a horizontal swing, Ed rolled underneath the mass of cold steel and drug his blade vertically across the length of Vordt.

Blue-black blood spilled out of the slight chinks in the beasts armor. A cold presence filled the room and the creatures greasy black hair from beneath the helm shook with ice. Vordt roared in rage and backhanded Ed with his off hand. Ed flew and hit the door they came in, leaving a crater.

Unlike earlier in the fight the beast relentlessly charged toward Ed's slow moving form,

Feet before Vordt could make contact, Abigal let loose a massive amount of energy streaming into the helm of Vordt. Knocking the creature off balance.
Forgetting Ed, Vordt began a charge toward Abigail. Flailing his mace wildly about attempting to hit her.

She was quick, her feet moved fast almost as if she was gliding about the room. Her fluid motions countered the predictable and rage filled advances of Vordt.

Yet she was running out of room, her magi began to quickly drain from the enhanced movement spell she was using. Her movements slowed, but The cold monster never tired.

Concussion from one of Vordts hits knocked her concentration from her.  She lay on the ground attempting to recover,

Everything seemed to slow down for a moment,  Vordt continuing his ravenous charge, raised his hammer, but before he could finish the blow

A flash of red

Then the blade of a great sword burst through the torso of Vordt.

Ed had driven the sword, in a leap of rage and faith, into the beast. He began to thrash around, Ed holding in to the swords grip for dear life.

The red aura animated from Ed's Helm and shoulders once more. Ed gripped the hilt in his left hand and began striking Vordts neck and shoulders with his gauntlet. Blood flowed from the armor of both parties.

Blue-black blood from Vordts chest, head, and shoulders, and Ed was bleeding red from inside his gauntlet and a slight stream of blood running down the visor of his helm and dripping on his chest.

Ed kept punching Vordt, over and over again, Abigail could hear bones crunching after each hit.

The monster began to slow, blood loss finally taking hold of the beast. In a final effort, Vordt rolled, throwing Ed I front of him.

Ed landed on his feet, poised for Vordt's next strike,

Vordt lunged at Ed, yet Ed caught the bests massive helm with both hands, twisted his body and flung Vordt half-way across the chamber.

The monstrosity was slow to get up,

Ed reached out and grasped the handle of the beasts mace and wielded it on one shoulder, he took a few measured steps toward Vordt, raised up the hammer, and brought it down on his head. He helm scrunched to a bloody metal mass.

Ed went to one knee , using the mace as support,
Vordts body began to slowly burn, then disintegrate before Abby's and Ed's eyes, finally, Ed's sword crashed to the ground and a fist sized ball of light hovered just over its resting hilt. Abigail supported Ed as he limped to the ball of light and touched it.

It seemed to meld within Ed's chest. Ed noticed the familiar warm feeling as it was the same as when he kill Gundyr. Ed reached for his sword, as he touched it. The ashes a Vordts body began to swirl and move until they piled up near the open exit of the chamber, which ended in a  large drop.
There at the pile of ashes, a great fire arose and sparked to life, a gleaming coiled sword stick into the burning embers.

Abigail pulled Ed's hand,

"Come with me Ed, let us rest."

He nodded slowly before following the small woman no the fire. He removed his helm and laid his sword to his side, he laid next to the fire, letting the smell of smoke relax him and clear the bloodlust from his head.

He fell to a dreamless sleep.......

He awoke Ina slight start, an unfamiliar weight rated in his chest plate, he looked down and it was Abigail, her loose red hair ran wildly across the grey plate of his armor, she was sound asleep next to him and the bonfire. Strangely enough, the bonfire had shrouded the two with smoke as they slept.

It began to dissipate slowly, the smoke cleared and the beautiful sight laid before Ed's eyes,

It was peeking morning over the horizon, massive pillars of castle Lothric shone like diamonds in the sun, vast stretches of prairies and forests stretched for miles around.

He sighed lightly before realizing that he had woken the sleeping beauty on his chest.

"Good morning Abigail, are you ready for the coming day?"

She shook her head in sleep, and buried her face in the crook of his arm...

The same thought melts aching at his mind,

It's nowhere near over yet...
