Shatter Me (Peridot x OC)

Chapter One

 I woke up with a ringing in my head and a pain in my side.

"Hello?" I called out, and heard loud footsteps padding towards me.

"Jas! She's awake!" A feminine voice yelled, making me flinch.

"Not so loud..." I whimpered.

"Sorry," she whispered, showing her face, honey light leaping through the bars. Wait, bars?

"I'm Peridot." She reached out a green hand and I, in return, extended my own.

"I, I don't know who I am..." I muttered.

"You're Black Diamond." She said.

"I'm a Diamond?" I yelped, and she held her hand over my mouth.

"Not so loud, you clod!" She screeched. "Jasper doesn't know that. Everyone refers to you as 'Onyx'."

Onyx. I thought. That's me! That's my name! I remembered, now. It was when I was first created, back in the sixteen hundreds. I'm fairly young. I was created in one of the Beta Kindergartens, made to be a warrior. Once they saw I was a Diamond, they freaked out.

I remember that I didn't want to be 'Black Diamond'. I wanted to be normal. I changed my name to Onyx, and cover my gem almost all of the time, which was complicated, considering it's on my neck. I was brought in by another gem, her name was something like 'Garnet'. I could tell she was a fusion. There are no natural born Gems that tall.

She took me in and cared for me.

One day, she didn't come home. I got scared, and ran away again.

I blacked out, and now I'm here.

"You alright?" Peridot shook me from my memories, handing me a small envelope.

"What's this?" I asked, opening it. "A key?"

Peridot looked me in the eyes. "A few moments from now, and four Gems will arrive. You will go with them, and leave me here. I have a plan."

I nodded and put the key into my pocket.

An explosion ruptured through the ship. "What was that?" I cried, covering my ears.

"They're here." Peridot smiled at me. "Good luck, Onyx."

She was gone.

"Gems! We've got things to get! Amethyst! Go grab Bla- Onyx. Pearl, go with Steven to get Peridot! I've got Jasper." That voice... I knew her...

A purple hand reached through the bars and grabbed mine. "Onyx!"

"Amethyst!" I jumped up and handed her the key.

"Where the heck did you get this?" She asked, unlocking the door.

"I got it from another Gem. Her name's Peridot." I replied, resulting in Amethyst grabbing my shoulders.

"You talked to Peridot?!" She yelled, shaking me.

"Yeah. So?"

"She's EVIL, Onyx!" Amethyst slapped me. "WHERE DID SHE GO?"

I shrugged. "She just kinda... disappeared..." I smiled.

"Onyx, nooooooo!" Said Amethyst, "anyone but her!"

I sighed.

"Nooooooo..."

"Onyx!" I was tackled by a short black haired boy.

"Who are you?" I asked, patting his head.

"It's me, Nyx... It's Steven!" He yelped, hugging me.

"Steven?" I questioned.

"Steven Quartz Universe." He responded, pulling on my shirt.

"Rose Quartz's son?" I asked, tears filling my eyes.

He nodded.

"Is she... is she in there?"

He shook his head. "Mom's gone."

I forced a smile and nodded. "Makes sense."

"I have her gem, though!" He lifted up his shirt to reveal a dark pink, almost red colored gem placed where a human's 'belly button' would normally be.

I smiled. "So... you can fuse?" He nodded and smiled, walking over to a tall black haired, maroon skinned Gem. Wait- Garnet?

"Hello, Onyx." She said, her voice grim, almost a male sounding tone.

"Garnet?" I had to stop myself from saying 'Mom'.

She chuckled, and a white light blurred around her, revealing two shorter Gems. By the looks of it, they seemed to be a Sapphire and a Ruby.

"We're Garnet." said the blue one, taking a hold of the red one's hand.

"Woah..." I smiled. "So, I can fuse... with anyone?" Even... Peri- her? They nodded in unision. "Sweet."

They hugged and returned to their taller state. "We need to get out of here. Peridot already escaped, and Lapis is too far away. The ship's about to blow."

"We need Tourmaline," Amethyst whispered.

I gasped. "But she's unstable! I don't even know how to form her!" I breathed back, blush crossing my face.

"It doesn't matter! She can breathe in space, and we need to let the others use the escape pod! Come on, Nyx. Now that you know you can fuse, you'll be fine! Just pretend you're fusing with another Diamond."

"I've never even fused before!"

"Just dance with me!"

I sighed. "Alright." I took her hand and stepped to the left.

The fusion of two Gems is a complicated process. It's like a dance, but more complex.

A minute or so passed, and I don't really remember what had happened. I felt something in my soul, a presence. Like someone else was there with me.

Amethyst? I thought.

Yeah?

Is... is this fusion?

Uh huh! Cool, right?

Yeah... but, uh, who controls what?

We have the same desires, so, both of us. The only way we can communicate with each other is through thought. Just follow my lead!

"GIANT WOMAN!" Steven yelped, hugging her leg.

"Hiya, Steven!" Tourmaline bent down and kissed his forehead.

"Wait, you two are Tourmaline?!"

She nodded, extending her dark purple hand.

Now that Steven thought about it, she was like a calmer, sweeter version of Sugilite. They even looked pretty much the same!

"Garnet, can you get everyone out safely?"

The tall Gem nodded.

Alright, Amethyst. Let's do this.

"That... was amazing!" I screeched, throwing my grey hands up in the air.

Amethyst giggled. "Yeah. I haven't fused in forever!" She stretched her arms above her head, smiling.

"So that's what fusion feels like..." I whispered.

A silence.

"It's nice."
