Chapter 16

Lucy's POV

  It was the second day of the Grand Magic Games. The events from last night still kept on replaying on my head. Did they really planned the scare? To make me paranoid? What would they accomplish with that? It's confusing, really. Especially since you don't know your enemies. Their abilities, number, capabilities and strengths included.

  "And they finally did it, folks! Natsu Dragneel followed shortly by Gajeel Redfox, had reached the finish line! Fairy Tail received the last two places while Sabertooth withdrew. Is this the start of their comeback?" My head snapped upwards in time to see the two motion sick dragonslayers reach the other end of the race. I mastered a giggle seeing them slump down on pure exhaustion and nausea. They truly out done themselves.

  Once the excitement of Fairy Tail died down, the two were brought to the infirmary to recover for the day. I can't help but smile at the sight. It seems that the notorious and troublesome dragonslayers weakness is a moving vehicle. They faced multiple enemies, including Acnologia, but both were too stubborn to back down. Yet, they literally bowed down to a non living object called a Chariot? How pitiful..

  Despite that, they refused to give up in the name of our guild. They faced their weakness and continued fighting. They might not won first or even second, but still. Their determination lit up the hearts and spirit of our guild. I swear i even heard some praises from the crowd. Proof that they were touched by the moving speech of Natsu and Gajeel. Wow..

  It was in between matches. I just came from the infirmary after visiting a sick Natsu who's face was still green. It was fun seeing him so hopeless like that. Don't tell him i said that. He'd think of me as his sadistic partner. Well, excuse me for fussing over an unusual sight such as that. I'm sure i won't be able to witness that ever again. He may be an idiot but he's not that much of an idiot. I'm sure after this, he'll avoid the word 'Chariot' for the rest of his life.

  While making my way back to the stands, i saw Yukino walking down the same path. Last night's events immediately crossed my mind as i jogged my way towards her direction. She spotted me almost instantly as she offered me a kind smile and small wave. Thankfully, since the Games were still on going, not much people were here. As of that moment, not a mage nor person was on sight. Perfect time to discuss about it..

  "Hey, Yukino!"

  "Hi, Lucy-sama. I assume you visited your dragonslayer?" I don't know why but a blush crept up on my cheeks by the mere of mention of him. As well as the way she made it sound. She's like implying that i own him or some sort!

  "Yeah. He was brought to the infirmary after the challenge. Why are you here?"

  "Well, i went to the food stalls outside to buy water and some snacks for the team." Was her reply. She even gestured to the pack of chips and bottles of water on her hands.

  "It's a good thing you did, though. I've been meaning to tell you something." My expression immediately contorted into a serious frown. She sensed the change of mood as she too, turned serious.

  "Did something happened?" I nod and watch her reaction carefully. She turned shocked for a minute before it turned to worry and concern.

  "Yeah. A group of people were following me last night when i went out for a night walk—morning i mean."

  "A group of people?" She seemed to be deep in thought as she processed the new information i gave her.

  "What's weird was the fact that Natsu didn't sense them when he showed up. He claimed that he didn't see nor smell someone around."

  "Eh? How's that possible? Dragonslayers have heightened senses, right? They have enhanced hearing, sense of sight and smell. He should have sensed them." Yukino was confused, so did I last night—morning. I was certain that a group was following me. But why did Natsu didn't? It's strange..

  "I'm confused, as well. I'm positive that i was being followed. I'm certain it wasn't just Natsu then. I even came up with the conclusion that they were planning an ambush!"

  "Ambush?" She seemed shocked by my sudden declaration.

  "Yeah. I honestly thought they were going to ambush me when i felt them closing in. That was a perfect opportunity since i was alone. Maybe they sensed Natsu and didn't continue." She contemplated my theory, nodding when she saw my point.

  "You have Natsu to thank then.."

  "I guess." In the midst of our conversation, we heard a gong rang. Me and Yukino looked at each other in confusion. What was that? We started to make our way towards the arena to see the commotion. It was then we realized that the next match was about to start.

  "For our next match, I call on Ms. Kagura Milkovich of Mermaid Heel and Yukino Aguria from Sabertooth. Please come forth!" We were shocked when we heard the announcement. I looked back at Yukino in time to see her pale face. Her expression portrayed shock and fear. She must have been taken by surprise.

  "Don't worry, Yukino. You can do it!" I gave her an encouraging pat on the back. That seemed to brought her back to reality. She glanced up at me, offering me an uneasy smile.

  "I hope so.." she mumbled, moving away from me and walked towards the arena.

KON'NICHIWAAAAA! *froze, shivers under your heated glares*

  Gomen for not updating!! I really had a tough week(s). Since it's the end of the quarter, I needed to finish all the requirements and all. I'm sorrrryyyyy!! Then my 18th birthday is coming up! Don't get me wrong. I'm not planning on having a Fairy tale themed debut party nor do I want a celebration at all. Just getting together with my friends would be more than enough. I'm actually looking forward to a complete Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series set! Not that my mom agreed but since I won't have a party like my sister did, I figured she'll grant my wish.

  WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! I can't wait!! *jumps up and down while squealing like a fangirl* (the perks of being a bookworm: would exchange a debut party for books) Some of you would think it's crazy, but that's just how i'am. I don't like being the center of attraction nor pretty dresses and make up. I'm weird like that..

  So, I'm really hoping I'll be in the mood to write the next few days. I've been missing deadlines and dates awfully a lot. I really need to change that..
