Story boss are the bosses from the story that you have defeated. Gacha Salt will appear in the list if you get him. If you lose the battle, the boss level and HP will not reset/increase. The HP will not reset, and you can come back to fight it were you last left off with the HP. Once defeated, the level will increase, increasing it's HP and ATK Damage and Power.
Elemental Bosses can be obtained once Luni has been defeated (I believe).
