"BEEP! BEEP!BEEP!" came a sound of uttered at had resided in the devil-spawned alarm clock that I had hit one too many times during my high school career and  had blown out the left part of the screen that was reserved for minutes, even now as I look at the damned thing all I saw was the brightly lit seven. I dragged my legs out of the blue and black blankets that had maintained the perfect warmth my feet required during the night and instantly regretted that foolish move as as cold chill ran through me all the way done to my bones. I hastily ran to the bathroom and jumped into the shower to avoid what felt would be frostbite, and made sure to take extra long to soak up all the warmth from the water so that when I get out I could hurry and dry off to escape the cold. About thirty minutes after getting into my outfit that had eliminated most of the coldness I finished getting ready and grabbed my purse and headed for the stairs of my home. "Shari! Are you almost ready? We have to leave soon if we want to make it!!" My mother called to me from the kitchen area of her small duplex. "I didn't fly all the way from Cedar City to miss this," I assured her as I grabbed an apple. "You cant possibly be wearing that are you?" I could hear the thoughts in her head going on and on about what I was wearing and just smiled as I looked down on my  purple sweater and black jeans with a few tears down the legs. "Why yes I am, and if this isn't good enough they can pay the cost of a nice dress." I said matter-of-factly and gave her my toothy grin as she cringed. My mom was the queen at judgement and had already scanned over me and was probably sizing me up to see if she had anything at would fit me and look more appropriate for the welcoming of my older brother home from overseas. Giving-up finally she sighed and we walked to her car. "It's going to be a pleasant surprise you came to see him. He still thinks you're in Utah!" she tried to make small talk on the way to the airport and I had just shrugged it off. "Yeah, I hope so," I had tried to put some kind of enthusiasm into it but I was too tired to care. We arrived at the airport a half an hour early so instead of sitting around I decided to look around the place. About twenty minutes later I walked back to my seat where my mom sat without taking her gaze off of the windows. I knew she was waiting for the plane to arrive so that she could try to tell which seat my brother was in. I grabbed my phone and checked the time wondering if it would be possible for me to fall asleep before he got here; when I realized I would probably be about only half asleep before my mother tore the airport to shreds like a nasty tornado trying to get to my brother before he got out of the gate I just kept my eyes open and internally cursed my brother for being on an early flight, or at least it was early to me. "Donny!!" I heard the cry come from a very close spot and turned to see my poor mother standing up so fast she almost fell back down into the seat and rushed over to the gate and was basically jumping in excitement. I slowly stood from my seat and walked over to accompany her and as I saw my brother walk down the little shaft from the airplane my knees turned to jelly and I thought I was going to fall, his hair was buzzed short but you could still tell it used to be dark and soft, his eyes were the most brilliant brown with little specks of a  darker brown inside near the pupils, he always was tall compared to me but this height was something I rarely saw. He was easily six foot five and had strong facial features with small freckles under his eyes. "Shari berry!" he smiled and leaned down to hug me to him. I was engulfed in his hug and felt my mother push in to get his attention. After holding him for what seemed a few minutes he let go and grabbed onto my mother. "Hey mom" he whispered and instantly she was gone from sight in his embrace. When we had gotten done being acquainted we set off to claim Donny's luggage and head home. As we were about to leave I went off to the restroom and looked in the mirror where I took inventory of my face and touched up a few of my makeup smears from where I was crushed in Donny's embrace. My hair looked soft and nice to touch in its golden ember glory that ended at my shoulders. My brown eyes looked much like my brothers except mine were more big and round. I didn't have any freckles like he did but I did have dimples that I personally adored. I didn't know that this would be the last time I saw myself or otherwise I would've taken a better look.
