yoongi giggled as he watched jimin swim circles around him.
jimin had brought him into a shallow part of the water where they couldn't be seen. he had placed yoongi down, much to the others fear, causing the boy to flail and cling to jimin.
he gradually relaxed though as he felt the soft squishy sand underfoot but his grip on jimin didn't cease until jimin managed to calm him fully.
now jimin was swimming small circles around yoongi, casually splashing him with water. yoongi's eyes followed jimin's movements. no matter how much he looked he couldn't believe that jimin was a mermaid, or well, a merboy.
thoughts of what his father told him of these creatures crossed his mind.
evil creatures. enemies of human kind. any chance they get they will drag you down into the ocean and drown you. stay far away from them.
never once would yoongi think such vile things could be true. just looking at the boy in front of him made him rethink those stories. he couldn't imagine jimin being a violent creature.
he looked too pure. with his squishy cheeks and adorable eye smile. his slightly chubby body. there was no way jimin was what his father told him they were.
as yoongi got lost in thought, jimin stopped swimming. he tilted his head to the side gaining yoongi's attention. a gummy smile spread across his face as he saw jimin look like a lost puppy. with a little hesitance, yoongi reached forward and gripped one of jimin's cheeks between his fingers. he pinched the cheek lightly and giggled at the small pout that adorned jimin's lips.
"you're nothing like how my father described you..." yoongi muttered under his breath.
a screech suddenly left yoongi's lips as jimin picked him up. the scenery turned into a blur as jimin spun them around in circles. yoongi tried to keep him mouth shut so no one would find them but he couldn't stop the laughs that escaped his lips.
after a couple of minutes the two calmed down. they sent each other cheeky smiles before jimin placed yoongi onto a rock near the cave.
"father?"
yoongi looked up at the sound of jimin's voice. he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion before understanding what jimin was asking.
"o-oh yes, my father always tell me stories about mermaids. how they are horrible and that i have to stay away from them. but... you seem nice."
jimin smiled and a small blush formed on his cheeks. he looked up at yoongi again before averting his eyes down holding up a finger for yoongi to wait.
yoongi didn't question as jimin disappeared under the water. when he rose back up he gestured for yoongi to cover his eyes which the other obliged.
nothing seemed to happen for a couple moments until yoongi felt something being placed onto his lap. he slowly opened his eyes. his eyes widened in fear and he screaming thrashing his legs. desperately trying to get the thing off.
finally it landed in the water and yoongi watched as the fish swam back under the water.
he shifted his gaze at the laughing merboy in front of him and glared. that didn't seem to stop jimin though, as instead he started laughing harder.
"you're mean..."
jimin wiped the tears that were starting to form in his eyes and giggled. "sorry."
they stayed in silence for a while. yoongi watched as jimin floated on top of the water. he smirked as an idea came to mind. with shaky steps he stood up on the rock and stared out at the boy.
as the boy floated closer, yoongi crouched down on the rock and braced himself. he hid his chuckle behind his hand before jumping into the air.
he felt himself land on jimin's stomach and being delved into the cold water. he was surprised that he didn't feel scared as the water rushed around him. jimin's arms immediately wrapped out his waist and pulled him to the surface.
yoongi burst out in laughter as jimin tried to glare at him, pouting.
"gotcha."
jimin sighed and changed his hold on yoongi, making it more comfortable for both of them. yoongi noticed something from the corner of his eye and let himself out of jimin's grip. he paddled over near the rocks with jimin right behind him. he didn't want yoongi to drown.
yoongi grimaced as he picked up the wet, slimy seaweed and turned to face jimin who took a hold of yoongi's waist to keep him above the water. the boy placed the seaweed on jimin's head, much to jimin's distaste.
jimin puffed out his cheeks but didn't bother moving the seaweed. yoongi's smile was too cute.
he then picked up a shell and placed it over one side of jimin's flat chest.
"if i had another one we could make you a bra."
this is where jimin couldn't take it. he picked the shell out of yoongi hand and lifted the human boy onto rocks again.
"don't be like tha-"
"master yoongi? what are you doing out here? it's too dangerous."
both the boy's eyes traveled to see a castle worker wading through the water over to them. he took yoongi into his arms before looking over at jimin.
"who are you, boy? i've never seen you around."
