Chapter 8: Cowards

Arielle's POV

I grabbed at my hair in frustration and looked around the storage closet still trying to mentally prepare myself.

"El hear me out," he gave out a sigh then continued.

"I know you're not too good at that but I think it's the only way I can get this off my chest. We can get this off our chests." He looked at me warily, scared to continue.

I gave him a simple nod as a signal to keep talking.

"I'll admit I did stoop low being with your sister, who's the lowest hoe ever, but I was hurt. I was so hurt Arielle. I was admitting my love for you and you just got up and went to your Prince Charming Mark. There , you have it I love you and that's why I would go as far as scheming so that you're happy and so that your mom is proud of you because I love you . And I know my actions may not always show that, but it's obvious I don't know how to cope with pain nor rejection and that's something I'll work on if you allow me to let you be my motivation to improve myself." He was left out of breath and with wet eyes.

I couldn't hold back my gasp and brought my hand up to my mouth in shock .

Although his actions made it clear for the longest time and you could see the love he had for me in his eyes, hearing it made all the difference.

I did what my heart felt was right and slowly approached him.

I grasped onto his face gently and looked down at his lips, suddenly feeling like the air supply was being cut off especially in this small little closet.

He brought up his hand and began to brush his fingers against mine sending chills all throughout me. He slowly moved closer towards my lips and I could hear his unsteady breath as our lips got closer .

After what felt like an eternity, our lips finally connected and it felt like all of our problems vanished and nothing else mattered to me.

Our lips moved together making it clear that we were both eager and filled with nothing but love and adoration for one another.

I pulled away breathing heavily, "I forgive you." I said with a small laugh at the end of my statement.

Justin's lip turned up into a smile and before he could even speak I interrupted him, "and I love you . I love you so much and I'm sorry I've been too much of a coward to tell you before. Both of us have things to work on but I want to grow with you and for you . I want you to be the reason I wake up in the mornings, not for some man who my mom wants to be with."

We now both had huge smiles on our faces and were holding each others hands, fingers interlocked.

"God I've been waiting so long for you to say those words." He brought me closer and gave me a kiss on the forehead and brushing back my hair .

"Let's get out of here and go get a puppy." He nodded towards the closet door that lead back into the main shop and I grabbed onto his hand again and let him lead the way.

As we exited the supply closet I heard the little old lady from earlier give a few silent cheers to herself and I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks and Justin chuckled.

"What about this one?" Justin pointed towards a white chihuahua.

"He's cute but I'm not feeling it." I said sadly because I could barely resist the little sad eyes the chihuahua was giving me .

We continued to walk around and suddenly I heard a slight thud against the glass and looked up at one of the cubbies that held a Yorkshire terrier who was currently standing on only it's two back legs sticking it's tongue out excitedly at us.

I squealed a little too loud and felt Justin jump up startled beside me."This one Justin this one! Oh she's so cute, hiii!" I tugged at his arm very similar to a child in a toy store.

"Whatever you want baby girl." His smile was huge I almost feared his cheek muscles state of being.

He called over one of the workers and they got us all settled and prepared for adoption.

Once everything was settled we agreed on the name Esther and I couldn't be happier.

Maybe adding a puppy to our life wasn't the smartest idea but it was well worth it.

"Thank you again!" Justin and I waved at the kind lady while he grabbed all of Esther's things and I grabbed her leash.

I sighed in content and looked at Justin and I's interlocked hands then down at a happy Esther who was wagging her tail in pure delight.

"I have a feeling from now on, things are going to be very different."
