"Ah, Beck! Thank goodness you finally called! I would like to schedule an appointment for Lip Augmentation, my lips look like a paper cut and Mr. Lexington has retired from plastic surgery!"
"Mom...this is Paisely." Paisely Mont Vernon sputtered tearily, letting hot, salty tears flow snottily down her face. It was exactly midnight, the brights lights of Las Vegas mixed with the night sky streaming into the Costa penthouse through the long, wispy white curtains of the glass balcony doorway. The luxurious residence was eerily quiet, everyone having retreated to their Egyptian cotton sheets, but Paisely stayed wide awake, bundled up in furry, pink Lafayette pashminas on one of the white sectional sofas. The living room chandeliers were dimmed and the large, flat screen TV that was big enough to fit inside an AMAX movie theater was playing EJNYC on mute, the colors casting shadows across Paisely's face as she cried over Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.
She heard her mother give a slight chortle of embarrassment and imagined her cheeks flushing. "Oh, hi baby. Sorry, I've been waiting for Mr. Beckford's call for two weeks now and he still hasn't gotten back to me so when you called, I got a little excited-"
"Mom, I'm ready to come home now!" Paisely blurted out before her mother could sink into one of her usual ramblings about everything that was wrong with her from her "paper cut" lips to her ass - which had already been magnified to be bigger than Nicki Minaj's. While Daisy Mont Vernon, formerly known as Daisy Scott, had been the biggest supermodel of the 80s, ever since she'd lost her perfect figure from popping out Paisely, she'd become a little too in love with going under the knife. Paisely always felt something at the pit of her stomach tightening whenever she overheard Clarissa Costa and Eve Lexington calling her mother a "surgery addict" behind her back. It wasn't like her surgery came out like one of the tragic stories on Botched, she looked amazing!
So amazing, in fact, that she looked more like Paisely's 25 year old sister rather than her mother.
Daisy sighed but Paisely couldn't tell if it was relief of missing her daughter or exhaustion at the thought of her coming home. "Baby," She chuckled. "Spring Break just started. Aren't you having fun in, where was it? London? Las Vegas?"
"Las Vegas," Paisely answered, stuffing a mouthful of chocolate chip ice cream in her mouth as another tear slipped down her cheek.
"Well, that's fun, right?" Daisy exclaimed. "You're having fun with your friends! What is it? Do you need more money? I can't possibly imagine how you might have might spent twenty million in three days but if you're running out-"
"Everyone hates me," Paisely interrupted again, her voice cracking and suddenly it was pouring out of her like it usually did when she was laying on her mother's lap. "I did something really, really, really bad and I tried to fix it...I tried to apologize..." Paisely gasped as she trailed off, the painful memory of what had just transpired running through her head like a migraine.
After being tricked into leaking Veronica's sex tape instead of her embarrassing youtube videos, she'd tried to make it right. She'd stormed out of the Country Club restaurant, Jac Lexington attentively on her heels, and found Benny, Seth, and Chris all huddled near the Costa's sleek, black limousine, comforting a hysterical Veronica. And she'd cautiously stormed forward and tried to apologize.
She had tried to comfort herself with the thought that maybe it wasn't so bad. With the way Veronica soberly went around sleeping with everyone, it didn't seem like the Russian-Bangladesh girl would even care. And yet when Paisely reached the group and seen the girl's face, she instantly knew it was that bad.
Because Veronica looked completely and utterly broken.
"Veronica, I would have never leaked that video if I knew it was...that," Paisely had explained, wiping away her own tears, her only foundation Jac's comforting hand massaging her back. "Chris had told me it was a youtube video I was leaking so I thought it was okay. And-and kind of adorable. I never meant to do this to you, I just thought I had to because you were coming after me and I'm really tired of people coming after me. And-and taking me for dumb and treating me like I'm some silly girl. If I could take it back, I would."
