I speed walked to my room, slamming the door behind me in the process.
This is the third time mom has kicked me out of the house for a B+ on a test.
I grabbed my bag with all of its usual possessions:; three T-shirts,two pairs of jeans, an emergency toothbrush and toothpaste, a hairbrush, and a couple 100 dollars.
I left the house leaving a note:
Dear Mum,
I'm sorry for disappointing you with my test grade. I promise to try harder. I love you lots! I'll be back in a couple days.
-With love, WA
As a last thought I drew a small heart next to my initials. After, I grabbed my phone, earphones, and car keys while speeding out of the door to my maroon-colored Honda; which was, parked right in front of our small house.
I drove to Ashley’s house implusivly, and honked the horn when I had parked outside. Through her window, I was able to see her plastic white shade rise while she popped her head out. “I’ll be down in a second! I have to put some pants on!” She hollered before retreating into her room. I seriously couldn't believe she still walks around her house without any pants on.
I took my phone out, to check my Instagram, then I realized Lance had texted me. "Hey, what happened now?" I looked up and saw Ashley walking over with her purse and lip gloss in her hand.
"B+., My mom is pissed."
"Dammit, Winter, stop getting kicked out of the house."
"Hey, at least it wasn't a B- like some people get."
"Shut up, let's just go already."
While she got in I looked down at my phone to read Lance's message, that was until Ashley snatched it out of my hand and read it out loud "Hey-babe, din-"
"Ashley give it back!” I yelled, trying to grab it from her hands.
"No. Not until you drive."
As I drove, we passed by many cheap motels and old shopping centers, but I was heading to my favorite hotel. "So, after we drop off my stuff, want something to eat?" She didn’t reply and I couldn't tell whether she was asleep or just listening to music, "Ashley!" I stepped on the gas a little to be able to pass the yellow light, but it turned red when I got my chance. I looked over at Ashley and to my surprise she was both sleeping and listening to music, I pulled one ear phone out and got really close to her ear, "ASHLEY!" I could tell she was a little freaked out by it since my voice cracked. "Jesus, Winter, what do you want?" "Want to order Chinese and just stay at the hotel; or do you want to go to the mall?" She pulled out her iPhone to pause the music.
I pulled into Four Seasons and started to look for my favorite parking space. She broke the silence. "Let’s just stay in the hotel and later we can go get some pizza and rent a movie from Red Box." I turned off the engine and let out a sigh. I was tired of my mom getting mad over these grades, I wish she knew how hard I was trying. "Hey," I felt a hand on my shoulder, "Everything’s going to be okay, I'm here and there's only three weeks left until you leave." I turned over to Ashley to give her a hug. She's been through everything with me. She was my other half. "Let’s go check in before I my room is taken."
