The immense crowd gathered around the table as the two boys sitting at it stared at eachother.
"You could back down now." The heavy set boy out of the two, Brick, said with a grimace. The skinny, outcast opponent said nothing. His name was Asa. Everyone in the group of people rooted for Brick. No one stood, talked, or even looked at Asa without a hint of disgust in their expression. Except for his sister, Spencer. She was Asa's only friend. But, she wasn't liked either. They were bad outcasts. Brick had challenged Asa to a battle. Well, not an actual battle. A game battle on their iPads. It was a game called Space Commander, and no one was better at it than Asa. Even if he was awkward, he was smart. In battle, in classes, and in challenges. But Brick didn't believe that.
"I'm ready." Asa murmered. Brick smiled with a cocky additude. They hit play and the graphics started to move rapidly as the two spaceships that the boys were manning chased eachother through the meteor-filled sky. The ships menovered through the rocks and blasted eachother with lasers and rockets. Asa had a senario in his head, and Brick just winged it, expecting to win. Asa's plan was to something no one would have thought of doing. He smiled and winked at his sister as he raced past Brick's ship. Brick looked up with anger as Asa's smile faded. He took advantage of Brick's rage. Brick's ship picked up speed as he aimed his rockets to take out Asa's ship, but as he was about to realease it, his screen went dark.
"What did you do, ya loser!" Brick screamed with even more rage.
"Your ship got crushed between two meteorites. I won." Asa whispered with a little smile. Brick reached across the table and grabbed Asa's collar.
"You cheated. I know it!" Asa shook as Brick's cold breath whisped in his eyes. "This isn't over, Kingsley. There's always tomorrow." Brick stomped out of the room and the crowd followed him, giving Asa dirty looks as they shoved past him.
"Cheer up. You won!" Spencer said as she walked to Asa's side.
"Yeah. But there's always tomorrow, Spencer. And there will be new problems and new people to beat me up."
"Not if you finally stand up to those people, like Brick and his henchmen." she said as they walked out of the school.
"Have you met me!" Asa yelled, "I can't do that without walking home with something broken."
"Well;" Spencer said as they got to their driveway, "You never know. You might just suprise everyone and get them to leave you alone. I believe in you."
"Yeah. You do, but I don't"
