Rachii POV
"Happy Birthday sweetheart", I whispered in Mel's ear while she slept. She looked so adorable even with drool all over her cheek.
Today was going to be all about baby girl and nobody was going to change that. It's been a whole year since my break up with Kirk and that stupid bastard has tried to pick up Mel from school and follow me around until I got a permanent restraining order on his ass. Unfortunately I didn't get the job in Baton Rouge so I sold the house and me and baby girl have been living off that money. Kay and I have been inseparable and close as ever. Living with her reminded me of our college days and how she treated me like a sister. I missed being happy and carefree.
I got finished doing my daily routine and started preparing the house for Mel's birthday party. All of her cousins from back home where coming and my mom was coming. I was excited like it was her sixteenth and it was only her fourth. Her day has to be perfect, she deserved it.
My baby loved her some Doc McStuffins so her entire party was decorated in that theme. Kay's home was beautiful with all the pink and purple streamers and balloons. I walked around putting the finishing touches on everything.
"Honey, I'm homeeee...", Kay sang out.
"In here", I yelled back.
Kay came in with a shit load of presents. She had Mel so spoiled it was ridiculous.
"Girl...where are you going with all those gifts", I asked in amazement.
"Girl you know Mel is my daughter, child you just carried her, anything for my baby girl and this ain't even all of it." She said with a wink.
"Well did you leave anything in the stores for me to buy my daughter?" I joked.
"Yeah, I put your name on a few of mines" she replied laughing.
"Hot mess" I said walking into the kitchen.
"You know what I think she'd really enjoy?" Asked Kay.
"No, what?"
"Seeing her father, her REAL father"
"Oh no Kay, you know I can't do that, it'll be too much for her and me"
"How Rachii, baby girl is getting older and she needs her dad"
Kay had a point but I didn't have time for all the drama. Maybe later in life and plus he wasn't trying to keep up with us so whatever.
"Nahhhh" I said waving my hand. "She'll be just fine with me and only me".
"Ok girl" Kay said a little bit irritated.
I returned to the rearranged living room to put Mel's new toys in their rightful place. I couldn't stop smiling. This will be her first real birthday party with family and friends. Usually Kirk would take us on expensive trips buy her whatever she literally looked at and ignore me the entire time. Today baby girl will have a regular messy and funfilled party like any other 4 year old.
Kay's POV
"Yes, baby, Kyree is still with the sitter, I had to pick up some things for Mel's party, don't worry", I reassured Ace over the phone.
"Yeah I asked her but she wasn't having it babe".
Ace and I both have been trying to get Rachii to at least speak with Mel's dad but the girl is as stubborn as a mule.
Ace still worked with Mel's dad and claimed he brought Rachii up a few times but he still didn't know about Mel. Ace wanted to tell A about the baby since Rachii had her but he also didn't want to disrespect Rachii's wishes so he kept quiet.
"Well I still think he should come, Mel needs her dad Ace, Rachii is going to understand that sooner or later" I said totally going against Rachii's wishes.
"Thank you babe, just tell him I'm having a dinner party and would love for him to stop by" I said with my fingers crossed.
Rachii Ann is going to kill me.
Rachii POV
"Happy Birthday Princess" I said to Mel as she got dressed in her Doc McStuffins costume. God has truly blessed me with a beautiful baby girl.
After getting Mel dressed and ready, her guests started pouring in. I was so happy to see my mom and brother. Mel was elated when my cousin little girl Kaitlyn walked in, she ran over to her and have her the biggest hug ever. They were the same age, Kaity looked like a chocolate china doll she was so precious.
Mel's party was going great and it was finally time to sing happy birthday.
"Happy Birth..." We all sang until Ace walked through the door bearing gifts.
"Uncle Ace!", Mel shouted. She was so happy to enjoy her birthday with family.
Everyone stopped singing and focused on Ace.
"Happy Birthday Mel B" Ace said, "I got a big surprise for you" he claimed.
The next thing we know, a man walks in behind him and starts singing happy birthday in a soft low tone.
Everybody in the room gasped and froze.
"Mommy, who is that?" Mel asked looking confused.
"How dare you Kay!" I screamed before taking off to the back.
I was so hurt. How could she do that to me...to Mel? I couldn't believe that man was standing face to face to my daughter.
