Dan's PoV
"Are you Dan Howell?" Said the voice on the other end of the line. "Yes." I replied. "Who is this?" I asked. "The Hospital of London. Your friends, Chris and PJ, are dead. They were victims of a hit and run." I gasped. "No... they can't be dead..."
"We're so sorry... We really are."
"That's not enough." I said, out of anger.
Phil walked into the room, swinging the door open. He ran towards me. "Did they call you too?" He cried. "Yeah, Phil... They did."
"Oh my god, I can't believe they're..." He was reluctant to say it. "Dead." I finished his sentence. We got up and walked to the couch. Trying to take it in. I wanted to just sit there, forever. Either that or flop onto the couch and have another existential crisis. Phil put his hand on me. "Dan..."
I just sat there. As silent as a mouse. "Phil. Why?"
"I don't know."
"Out of all the people."
"Yeah..." He continued. "Why do they have to be-"
Phil cut me off. He grabbed me and wrapped me in a hug. I didn't move. I put my arms around him. "Dan..." I didn't say anything. I just stood there, in my best friends arms, until what felt like forever. He was crying into my shoulder. Not that I really cared if he did. I didn't blame him. How come this little ray of sunshine had to go through all of this?
I gripped onto his shirt. "Never let go of me, understand?"
Phil nodded. "Okay."
