(Authors Note: I think i am going to write the chapters of this story corresponding to the day. For example: Chapter one was Todd's first day in the Lenna region, and Chapter two will be his second, and so on. Please feel free to leave a comment with any suggestionsand and if I like them I might incorporate them into the story)

Chapter 2: My Incounter in the Woods

When I woke up this morning, I took some time to think about my life. I may have been a bit negative Yesterday, this was mostly because of that stranger with the Kirlia. I guess that I'm just mad that I was never allowed to get a Pokémon. My mom always thought that they were "Too Dangerous" and that they "would make a mess" and "Poop on the floor." I begged and pleaded that I would train it, but she was adamant about her decision.

My train of thought was derailed when my mother walked into the room. She must have thought that I was depressed because of the generally negative face i wear when I'm thinking, which has been a lot lately. I guess that I am a bit depressed, I mean, I had a great life in Petalburg. It was sunny, warm, and what I think is best of all, it never rained. There was a sort of L shaped Pond right next to my house that I would go swimming in every day. But no, because of that stupid natural disaster, we had to move. The truth is I'm not depressed, just annoyed... with the world.

"You can't just lay in bed all day... you need to go do something" nagged my mother as she leaned against the door frame. I could tell that she had just gotten up because she had not done her make-up yet.

"Well, what am I going to do?" I yawned while I sat up in bed.

"Go outside! Go make a friend" she then realized that that wasn't going to happen. "Or... there’s a forest nearby... I guess you could go camping..." I do like to go camping; I like to sit and think about my life... or try and look at the bug Pokémon deep in the woods. I don't know why, but being in the woods calms me. It's like sometimes when I feel an emotion, it just keeps self-perpetuating until I can’t handle it anymore. When I go to the woods, it calms me down, and I feel safe.

Because I like camping so much, I always have my backpack stocked with supplies. Right now in there I have the following: 1. my one person tent. 2. A cooking set with a stove and pot that my mother gave me for my birthday a couple of years back. 3. A medium sized bag that I can keep food in. 4. My water bottle.  5. A poke ball that my friend in Petalburg stole and gave to me so that I could eventually get a Pokémon.

When I got outside, it was still raining. “Well, I guess that’s why they call it Patter town.” I muttered to myself as I walked down the drive.

When I got into the forest I finally started to feel at home. There was a certain smell that is common to any forest.  I was glad to get out of the rain, but the forest floor was still soaked to the core. Luckily I had a tarp with my tent that I could put down first to keep my tent from getting wet. After about an hour I found a small clearing that I could make camp in that was still covered by the trees above.

After I set myself up I decided that I would go on a walk. I found an old trail that looked promising, so I set off. While I was walking down the straight and narrow trail, I heard a faint buzz in front of me. When I looked ahead along the trail, I saw a flame off in the distance. I started to run towards the sound. I saw the flame go right past me and down the trail that I came from. I decided to follow the flame because I didn’t want to know what was coming towards me from the end of the trail.

I heard the wind whistling as I ran through the forest. I thought to myself “what am I running from, what’s behind me?” I was starting to catch up to the flame which I’d realized was a Charmander. I had never seen one before and it was truly amazing. I saw it was starting to slow down because of exhaustion, so I picked it up and began running faster than I had ever before. My tent finally came into view, and when I got near it I leaped into the open door that I am now so glad that I left open when I left.

I kind of feel bad because I may have squished the Charmander a bit, but I realized later that it was just fine. We were both tired and it was so warm so I eventually drifted to sleep, it also helped that it was late and I had quite a bit of a workout before.
