So today was just like any other school day. Except this time, I was on a mission. For answers. I'd never been to this part of the school before. Well, explains since I wasn't a senior. Maybe it was just me, but the lockers looked bigger than the ones we had. There were fewer classrooms on each level, and the corridor was wider. Hopefully I can catch him.

Wait, is that..? I quickly ran towards the other end of the corridor.

"Dylan!"

The copper-haired guy stopped in his tracks and turned around. I breathed out a sigh of relief. I was right. It was him. I walked the rest of the way over.

"Hey, Seline!" He smiled and greeted me. "Whatcha doing here?" He didn't look surprised to see me.

"I was hunting for giraffes."

"Damn, what a coincidence. I was doing the same thing."

I rolled my eyes and pushed Dylan playfully on the shoulder. He laughed at my response.

"So what brings you all the way from the south, milady?"

"Are you free now, Dylan? I feel like going to get some coffee."

"Are you asking me out?" Dylan winked playfully at me.

"Oh come on, Dylan!" I threw my hands up in exasperation.

Dylan laughed. "Of course I'm free. Mademoiselle has personally asked me out, how could I say no?"

I rolled my eyes one last time and sauntered off. Dylan followed behind me, still laughing.

I stared at my reflection in the coffee cup. My favourite song was playing in the background. There weren't many people in the small cafe, which was expected since it was parked in the corner of a street no one really went to.

"Didn't know there was a cafe here." Dylan said as he looked around. "So is this where you usually hang out?"

"Yeah, pretty much. It's a small place, but their food's pretty good."

"Mm hmm. I gotta admit, cheese truffle fries sound pretty damn good." Dylan stared at the menu once more before putting it down. "So what's up? You look like you got something to tell me." Dylan looked at me expectantly.

"Um..." Come on, you can't back out now, Seline. Just say it. Ask him. "Why did you call me to tell me Aunt Elda's in hospital that night? She was perfectly fine when I got home."

"Oh, sorry about that." He answered a little too quickly. "I found out that Aunt Elda was actually my mum's close friend. She told me she saw Aunt Elda being pushed into an ambulance. So I panicked and called when I heard." Dylan told me. "Guess she saw wrongly. You must have been so worried. Sorry!" He gave me an apologetic look.

"Ah. So that's what happened." Well, that explained the call. But there was still one more thing that didn't make sense.

"What happened to you-"

"Hey, I was doing just fine before I met you~ I drink too much and that's an issue~" I didn't manage to finish my sentence before The Chainsmokers' 'Closer' started to play from Dylan's phone.

"Sorry, gotta take this. Gimme a sec." Dylan quickly walked away with his phone in hand.

"Sure thing." He flashed me a smile before heading for the back of the cafe.

I lay back onto my chair while waiting for Dylan to return. What could have happened to Dylan that night? I didn't have much time to ponder about that though, as I felt my stomach flip at that exact moment. Oh god. I need the toilet. I'll just text Dylan inside later. I grabbed my bag and bolted straight for the ladies.

I was taking my phone out of my bag when I heard a guy's voice from outside. It wasn't a big cafe, so his voice was loud and clear from where I was. It was definitely Dylan's voice.

"Yeah man. Thanks Nate, you're a bro." There was a pause as the person he was talking to replied something at the other end of the line. "Yeah, just say you didn't know anything if she asks." The person on the line said something again. "Yeah bro, I gotta go, talk to you soon. Thanks again." I heard footsteps becoming softer as he walked away. Oh crap, I was supposed to text him just now. True enough, my phone started to vibrate at that moment.

"Hey Dylan. Uh... had to go to the toilet for a bit. Coming out now." I quickly finished up what I had to do and headed back.

Dylan smiled at me when I returned.

"Sorry I took so long. My mum called to ask me about something."

"Your... mum?" I'm pretty sure he was talking to a guy on the phone just now. Unless he calls his mum bro.

"Yeah she calls me for the smallest thing. Just an old habit I guess. But she's still my mum, and I love her." Dylan smiled sheepishly. "She called me to ask if she should get cabbage to stock up at home. Like what the heck, right?" Dylan was laughing as he spoke. I gave a strained smile. Cabbage. I don't think I heard anything about cabbage.

"I'm not feeling that good, I think I'll head home for today." I stood up and took my bag from the chair.

"Eh? Are you alright?" Dylan stood up with me, a look of concern on his face. No, I'm not. Why are you lying to me, Dylan? "Let me send you home."

"That's okay, I'll be fine." I gave him one last, small smile and left the cafe, without looking back once.
