"If you were to be reborn, where and when will you want it to be?"
The sun was sinking in the horizon and the winter breeze slowly rolled in and swirled the dust around.
"That's not even possible." He said and took the last bite from his waffle.
"I said 'if'" her eyes glittered in the rays of the sun. "Well, if you ask me, I’d like to be reborn at the same place and at the same time when I was born in this life so that I can find you again and we can be together just like this." She beamed a childish smile at him, her long hair swayed with the wind. He looked at her for a second and starred away from her.
"I don't want to be reborn" he paused. "Even if I were to be reborn at the same time and at the same place as I was born in this life, how can I be so sure that everything that happened today would happen again? How can I be sure I'll meet you again? The decisions might be different in my new life. What if I can't remember you? What if we can't find each other? What if we can never meet?" He looked at her.
His eyes were sad. At that moment he thought he'd lose her in an instant. He sighed and looked at the sun again. It was almost gone and the sky was hues of violet and dark blue.
He hesitated for awhile, "I don't want that. I'm afraid I may not know you anymore. I'd rather live just one lifetime with you until the end than live a million lives without knowing you..." he stopped, a little bit embarrassed. He closed his eyes and felt his heart beating wildly. His cheeks were red and he bit his lower lip.
'That was embarrassing' he thought. He felt warmth against his shoulder. He slowly looked at her as she leaned her head against his shoulder and took his hand. She has a smile on her face and her eyes were closed but he can see a trail of tear in her face.
