I stared back at the half living boy staring straight at me. He had short, blonde hair that curled at the ends. Those large, chocolate eyes bored into my soul as if he were trying to suck it right out of me. Apparently his name was Kyle.
"You can drop off you stuff in here Jamie," Zoe caught my attention as she pointed to the third bed in the room she shared with Madison, and now me.
"Um, ok," I mumbled, dumping my black duffel bag onto the plain looking bed. I glanced over at the boy who just kept staring at me, a dead serious look plastered across his face.
"And don't worry about Kyle," Zoe whispered in my ear, dragging me out of the room. "He gets nervous around new people."
The next morning I stared at my pale reflection in the fogged up mirror of the bathroom. I had just taken a shower and now I was staring at my short brown hair, shoulder length. My nose was long and thing, my bottom lip bigger than the top. My eyes were large for my head, cold and blue. So far, I was not happy about my mother dropping me off at my aunt Cordelia's school for Hogwarts. I had no magic, I had nothing. My father was wanted in at least 6 states for murder or aggravated assault. I guess my mother thought I would be safer with protection from the coven. It still sucked.
I heard the floors creak and I snapped my head toward the door.
"What are you doing in here!" I yelled at Kyle who was once again staring at me. "Why do you keep staring at me?" I shouted and stomped towards him, shoving him out of the bathroom and slamming the door shut. What was his problem?
It took me a few days, but I finally was getting used to living with my aunt and the coven. However, things took a turn for the worst when Zoe asked me to drive Kyle to see his mother, who didn't know he had been brought back from the dead. I really didn't want to, but I guess it was the least I could do for them protecting me.
The car ride was long and uncomfortable. The kid gave me the creeps. The last few nights I woke up to find him staring at me. He always slept in Madison's bed, who, by the way, was a real wench. Zoe was close with Kyle, but he was having sex with only Madison. And sometimes when we were sleeping. Ew.
When we arrived at Kyle's house I walked him to the door and knocked. His mother nearly had a heart attack when she saw us.
"Kyle!" she screamed and pulled him in for a tight hug. He didn't respond. "They told me you were dead!" she shrieked, examining his face and planting a kiss on his forehead. The kiss was long and strange. This woman also gave me the creeps.
"He was dead," I said flatly and a strange look fluttered across her face. "The girls from the coven brought him back to life." The woman laughed at me like I was joking. I wasn't.
I went to leave but Kyle spun around and grabbed my arm firmly, but it didn't hurt. I gasped and looked at him. His face was always blank, but this time fear swam in his eyes. He shook his head.
"What?" I whispered to him so his mother didn't hear from the kitchen while she made food.
"Please don't leave me," he spit out. His hand shook against my arm and I felt goose bumps spread across my skin.
