3 moons had passed, Acornkit was starting to get bigger and bigger, growing day by day.

Acornkit was leaping around the nursery, her fur bristled in excitement. She was chasing her brother, Mousekit around.

She made a big leap. Landing smack down on her brothers back. "I got you!" She squealed. Mousekit snorted, trying to shake his smaller sister off of him. "Get off of me!" He mumbled. She leaped off of him in a graceful jump, her large fluffy tail swishing in the air.

"Wanna go again? Mousekit?" She asked, her whiskers twitching. "No." He replied flatly. "Aww c'mon! You're so boring." She whinnied. "I really don't care." He said walking over to their nest. She flattened her ears and trotted off to the den entrance.

She poked her head out of the den, letting the warm breeze catch beneath the thick red-Brown fur. She paused, looking around for a certain cat. Patchkit was the cat who she was looking for, ksurely he would play with her, he always did.

"Patchkit?" She called softly, turning her head trying to find him. "Patchkit?" She called again, a bit louder this time. His brown and white head shot up, ears flicking. "Acornkit?" He yelled back very loudly. "Where are you?" She said confused. He padded out from behind the freshkill pile.

"Right here!" He meowed. She trotted toward him. "Wanna play?" She asked. Her gleaming in her eyes. His ears immediately dropped. "I wish I could, but I can't today. I'm getting my apprentice ceremony." He said. Acornkit didn't care much, she was starting to get excited for Patchkit. "Really!" She said, half yelling. "Yeah! He replied his eyes full of excitement.

She smiled with glee, knowing her best friend in the entire world would be an apprentice. And she wasn't that far behind him. Her fur bristled just thinking about it.

"Let old cats old enough to catch their own prey, please join here beneath high ledge for a clan meeting." Patchkit, Tangledkit and Cedarkit were already there; Their pelts freshly cleaned.

"Today is a special day, a day that we love, a day that is memorable, today we shall be making 3 young kits apprentices. The clammed cheered with joy. The three lots sat happily, their tail wrapped neatly around each ones paws.

"Patchkit, step forward Patchkit shot a glance back at Acornkit. She grinned back. One day, that will be me. She thought, pawing the ground.  "Patchkit, from this day forward, until you receive your warrior name you shall be known as Patchpaw, your mentor shall be Rustfur."

Patchpaw trotted over to Rustfur, confidence gleaming in his eyes. They tapped noses, waiting for the rest of the kits to get their names. Tangledpaw got Goldenpetal as a mentor, and Cedarpaw got Maskedshade as a mentor.

Acornkit tumbled under other cats paws, trying to reach Patchpaw. It was no use, the newly named apprentices already went out with their mentors. She frowned slightly, but just thought how much fun it would be to be an apprentice. She sighed wandering back to the nursery.

"Where have you been?" Wildflower demanded as Acornkit walked in, a sly grin was on Mousekits face. "Just watching the ceremony?" She replied, very confused. "But you didn't tell me where you were." Acornkit frowned. She knew better then to argue with her mother. "Sorry.." She mumbled. Her mother sighed. "Well then, you have had a long day, why don't you go get some sleep." She nodded trotting to the soft nest.

She curled up in a small, tight ball next to her brother. The gentle rapid breathing of her brother soothed her asleep in just seconds.
