Kaylynn's Point of View
The headlights drawing near. I could hear my dad's breath as he was panting for air as he was stuggling for breath. I looked at my brother, Kody. Tears rolled down his face. I then looked back up at the road. The car was there. Right in front of us. My dad, now unconcious, was of no help to us now. My mom leaned over and pulled the stearing wheel sending us into a ditch on the side of the road. I heard a load shatter. There was glass everywhere. I unbuckled my seat belt, my eyes swelling with tears, and leaned over to look at my mom and dad. Dead. My mom, eyes open hands and arms full of glass. I took her palse. No palse. I didn't even try the palse test with my dad. I knew he was dead. I couldn't hear his panting. Heartattack. I look over at my brother. Unconcious. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket in a hurry and dialled 911. Within a matter of mintues the police, the fire deparnent, the two ambulances was there. My brother, now awake, was crying more than he was before. Now at the sight of our dead parents. Kody ran over to me and hugged me tighyly as the paramedics put our parents on sretchers and loaded them into the back of the ambluance. I looked at him and felt more tears form in my eyes. I couldn't hold it back any longer. I cried in the arms of my brother. Both of us crying now. Kody reached a hand up to my face and wipped my tears away. I half smiled. Trying to look happy just for him. A paramedic ran over to my brother and I and got down on one knee. The ambulance droce away with the lights flashing. The paramedic looked up and down my body checking for injuries. Then did the same to Kody. He asked us if we were okay. Kody and I just continuced to sob. The paramedic pulled us into a hug and told us that everything was going to be okay. Everythings going to be okay. Thats what they always say. Everything is never okay. The second ambulance pulled up next to the paramedic, Kody, and I. The paramedic motioned us to follow him into the back of the ambulance. Kody took my hand and squeezed it tight. He mouthed to me, 'I love you sissy'. I smiled then mouthed back, 'I love you too bubby'. We climbed into the ambulance as the paramedic pulled the doors shut behind us. The siren sounded and the ambulance drove away. Toward the hospital. It was a silent ride the way there. No one wanting to even begin to start a conversation. I looked over at Kody. He shot me a smile then laughed. I covered my mouth so that I wouln't laugh. The paramedic looked at me then at Kody. Then back down at the floor. I knew when were at the hospital. The sirens stopped and the ambulance came to an abupt stop. The paramedic that was in the back wtih us got up from his sitting postion and flung the doors open. He put one of his hands oin my shoulder. The other on Kody's. He lead us along to a room where we would be inspected to see if there was any major damge done. They put Kody and I in one of the double rooms so that would could be together. The doctor was in right away. He inspected Kody first. Two fractured ribs and lots of internal bleeding. Then he inspected me. A cut on my forehead and a couple on my arms. I also had a concussion. Now the time was 8:56 pm. The night of mine and Kody's fourthteenth birthday. My parents, my brother, and I were on our way to dinner to celebrate. Then, the wreck. What a wonderful way to spend your fourthteenth birthday. Being in a car wreck and watching your parents die right before your eyes. I looked over at Kody as he lay in his bed. He was asleep. I abosoluty hate hospitals. People die here. It's only one night I told myself. I closed my eyes and decided to rest. It's been a long day. As I fall asleep, I remember my parents image. Happy and merry.
My parents smiling face danced through my head. It was the only thing I culd see. Lights then flashed before my eyes and took my parents faces out of my reach. The light was blinding me. Crash. Crash. Crash. The sounds of cars wrecking into one another. The whole crash replayed in my dreams.
I woke up with Kody hovering over me. I looked at him confused. He had a scared look on his face. "You were screaming. I came over here to check and see if you were okay." I looked him in the eyes. "I'm fine. It was just a bad dream. About the crash." Kody looked at me. "Same here. Except... Mom and Dad didn't die.... I did." After he said this he went back down to his bed and slept. I on the other hand, didn't sleep the rest of the night. 5:45 am.
In the morning, the nurse who was checking up on us came in at 7:00 sharp. I was already awake. She went over to wake Kody up. Once we were awake she told us that we had to get dressed right the insant because we had a log day ahead ofus today.
Breakfast came about half an hour later. Along with clothes from the gift shop. For breakfast we had eggs, toast, and orange juice. I ate slowly not wanting to eat. I drank the orange juice, then ate the toast, and then the eggs.
Kody's Point of View
After we had got done eating breakfast we were to change into clothes that they provied for us. For me they had a pair of jeans and a tee shirt from the cancer center gift shop. For Kaylynn they had a pair of jeans with a shirt from cancer center that was identical to mine.
Now we are ready for the long day.
