So it was quite obvious that this anonymous girl too dreamed of being an engineer, just like the 85% of other sciences stream students in India do. But unlike others, she didn't join any coaching centre as she believed that if one was really suitable for that stream and possessed the required abilities then one will be able to crack the entrance without the help of any coaching. She was the person who didn't expect beyond her means. Her dreams were small and her desires were limited. When each of friend dreamt of going to the IITs, she limited her dream to the NITs . One of the reasons behind this was that she knew it was impossible to crack the JEE Advanced without any proper coaching. The other reason was that Chetan Bhagat and his books had a great impact on her. Moreover, she had watched the movie, '3 Idiots' nearly 8 times and all these things had a combined effect on her mind. She had also read some 10-20 confessions of IITians claiming that joining the IIT was the worst decision of their lives.

Sitting on the couch, a million thoughts crossed her mind and all of them were about her career. She thought that life in the IIT is really very tough. The deadly rat race continues even after you secure an admission to the IIT. Since it's the most prestigious engineering college of the country hence one may expect it to be a knowledge hub but instead it's a place which values GPAs more than knowledge. You wake up in the morning, have your breakfast and go to attend lectures, then in the afternoon you have your lunch and then you have to attend your lab sessions which last till the evening, by the evening you are totally exhausted yet you have assignments to complete, the you go for dinner and sit down to solve the numericals, and as the clock strikes 12 then your real test begins as that is the time when the real study begins.

Keeping these thoughts aside she picked up the novel which she was reading, Underworld by her favourite author Meg Cabot. Her fascination for reading began when she was 11. She used to read fairy tales and short stories in her initial years, later she started reading classics as well as horror stories from authors like R.L. Stine. The library was like a paradise for her, where she would go and get lost in her world of books. She even read some Indian authors like Chetan Bhagat, as I mentioned above but she wasn't much inclined towards them because, all of them, and I repeat, all of them wrote the same things. The Indian novels are full of spices and twists and turns and each one, and here I repeat again, each one has the same plot revolving around the theme of love-sex-betrayal-reunion. They  are full of unnecessarily horny descriptions and double-meaning jokes. But they lack emotions and deep sentiments as well as they lack proper description of the surroundings. Okay, that's enough, we had had too much digressions by now. But the good thing is now, you have got a good insight into the mind of our anonymous girl, so you can very well understand her indecisiveness and jumbled- up thoughts regarding her career.

Everyone who knows her is well aware of her inclination towards books but till now only a few know that she is inclined towards writing as well. The first time she started writing was in 2012 and the first thing she wrote was a short story for her school assignment. She was very much excited to show the story to her English teacher. She was sure the teacher would love it, not just because it lacked any grammatical errors but also because the plot was simple and she had written it herself, it was no copy-paste work. But another fellow succeeded in getting the title of 'best story'. The story which that guy wrote was about a boy called Ali. Ali could not play football well, but his father would always cheer him up sitting on a bench and watching every match of his. One day, the bench was empty and that day Ali played the best. His team won because of him. Later, it was found out that his father had died and it was because of the promise that he made to his father that he played so well that day. Marvellous story, full of emotions and deep sentiments but a stolen one. Yeah! You read that right, the story didn't belong to the boy who presented it in front of his English teacher as his, the story was taken from the INTERNET. The boy who stole the title of the 'best story' may have forgotten by now about this incident but she remembers it well, very well. I guess, originality doesn't have much value these days. Many a times, I have come across people whom I help in writing or I have provided them some ideas or I have made some corrections in their work. But never has it ever happened that any of them gave me any credit for  the help I provided. Nevertheless, I ignore such people these days. Focusing back on the anonymous girl, I would say that this was a remarkable event in her life. She learnt the lesson that why copyright is important but still that could not stop her from posting some of her poems on Facebook. In the course of time she wrote many poems and by the time she passed standard 12th, she knew writing was her passion. And that's when her confusion regarding her career made her worry each day and night. She got 91.2% marks in her 12th boards as well as she cleared the JEE Mains 2016 too. She also secured a good AIR( All India Rank). Now, if she wanted she could opt for NIT and pursue engineering but she chose some other path.

The path she chose is again full of uncertainties. She could become an editor one day, or even a journalist, she could become a bank P.O. or even as IAS officer someday. But keeping aside all her concerns for her future, she is happy today for the choice she made.Life is full of possibilities and opportunities. I don't know whether the decision she took is right or not but all I know is that currently you are reading a book written by her and if you really like this book then her efforts are definitely not getting futile. Yes, that anonymous girl is called Neha Chandra, and I hope you like this creative idea of her telling 'how she became a writer' much more than any boring introduction which most of the authors put in the beginning of their books.

I may not be able to reach out millions but to the ones whom I am able to reach out, I hope you can perceive the message that I am trying to send through my story - Follow Your Dreams !
