I shimmied on my indigo dress over my body. It was a perfect fit. I stood infront of my body mirror, and inspected every inch of my body, I wanted this night to be total perfection.

I full-headed curled my autumn hair, and I glossed it up with hairspray. And I mean a lot of hairspray. I french braided my side bangs and then pinned them just over my ear with some Bobbi pins. The black mascara made my eyelashes look voluminous and the purple eye shadow, was lightly shaded on. I brushed sparkles over top. I had then rubbed some gloss onto my lips, and foundation on my face to cover up the breakout my body decided to give me this morning. I snapped the pieces of my necklace together behind my neck, and I slid in my earrings.

I was ready.

I sat on my couch (careful to not crinkle or ruin anything) watching tv and waiting for John to pick me up. A few minutes later, a slight knock occurred on the front door's glass window.

"MOM! DAD! HE'S HERE!!" I shrieked up the stairs, hoping that my deaf (not literally) parents could here me. Old age, it's a killer.

I creaked the door open "hey,"

"Hey!" He smiled back.

John stepped inside "Are you ready?"

"Yep, just gotta grab some money, be one sec." I hollered as I bolted up the stairs into my room.

I lied, I had money right in my purse, I just wanted to look in the mirror one last time, to quickly adjust and tweak some minor setbacks and fails to my beauty. I wasn't wanting to be full of myself, but the first time in my life, I felt hot, beautiful, gorgeous. It was a really good feeling, too. I was so excited, nothing could ruin this dance tonight!

I shimmied down ten steps as to not create a loose thread of hair, or a crinkle in my dress.

"Let's go." I said as we both walked out of the door and into his vehicle and we fastened our seat belts, and we drove off.

Lincoln High School was only 10 minutes away from my house. It was a short drive, with little amounts of talk. We just started dating three weeks ago, but still we were very shy towards one another. It's not like we were nervous and all, it's just, I don't know what he thinks but when I'm around him, I never know what to say. To stop the awkward silence, John turned the radio on, and turned it up so loud it roared in my ears. He's lucky it was a good song, too.

"Oh right here," I called out pointing to the parking lot. John pulled in.

He got out first, then walked around to help me out. He's so sweet.

"Thanks." I explained as he helped me out.

We started walking to the fromt foyer, when I heard a familiar voice calling my name loudly.

"RACHAAAL! RACHAL! HEY! OVER HERE!!" Shrieked the voice who was none other than my crazy best friend, Destiny.

"Hey, ok calm, breath slowly, in and out, in and out." I exclaimed motioning my breathing with my hands in a sarcastic way.

"Shut up!" She lunged at me and swatting my arms down.

"St-stop easy easy!" I stuttered inbetween laughs and giggles "let's go in already jeez!"

The four of us made our way inside the school. The gym was decorated very beautifully. There was blue and yellow streamers strung up on the roof and on the walls. A big DJ who thankfully was taking requests, was at the back of the large gym. A big fat and round disco ball was hanging from the middle of the roof, with lights flickering all around wildly.

There is a small hallway leading to the entrance of the gym. In the hallway the walls were covered up in black paper used as a chalk board. There were names plastered everywhere in all different types of chicken scratch and handwriting. There was yellow and green and purple and pink chalk dust all over. On the roof were some blue florescent lights that made bland colours turn neon. My purple dress popped up with awe. It was a neon purple that could blind someone's eyes.

"Daaaang girl. Ya lookin' fiiine!" Destiny complimented me while I laughed at her.

"Ok let's just go." I said glancing around the area. I really don't like it when everybody stares at me..... I am not very socially educated.

Adam, John, Destiny, and I all strolled inside...again. I was stoked. But, the first time I had never really noticed what I had just now witnessed. My jaw dropped in shock. I couldn't believe what I saw.
